Red Sox are on fire now! Love it!! Let's hope it keeps up. I am thinking Holt should be hitting lead-off

I agree, though it's partly because they really don't have any other options right now (except maybe Bogaerts).

I saw keep Bogaerts hitting 3rd.. But the Red Sox won't do that because Drew is now with the club which screws Holt.

Drew is walking through that door - Page 8 - Red Sox Forum - Sons of Sam Horn - Page 8

There are some really good posts in here about what the Sox should try to do. I wouldn't be opposed to batting Drew leadoff vs righties (He batted .284/.377/.498 vs righties last year). Maybe they should go with a Drew/Holt/Bogaerts platoon at 3B/SS? I haven't given up on WMB, but he's been very inconsistent and he hasn't been healthy enough to try to make the adjustments he needs to. I wouldn't be opposed to trading him.

Bradley, Gomes, Douchezinski, and Sizemore also had 0-fers.

it's a meaningless sample size.

My only problem with bringing Drew in was it meant moving Bogaerts off shortstop. But Drew does help the Sox win. I think Holt's going to be a nice bench player, but he's riding a BABIP over .400 right now. There's no reason to expect him to come close to a .333/.380/.489. Especially when he had a career .782 OPS in the minors.

To me the problem that needs to be solved is offense, not defense and Drew does absolutely nothing to help the offense. Holt at least gives them some spark at the top. Granted as you mentioned we don't know if he can keep it up but I would much rather him try that than have Drew.

Stephen Drew was one of the best offensive shortstops in the league last year.

It's fine if you don't like him, but there are much bigger issues with this team that resigning him. This team's depending on Grady Sizemore as a significant contributor, for chrissake. The comeback story was nice and all, but please, he's pretty much toast.

Gomes has been getting nearly equal plate appearances against righties and lefties. Seeing as he can't hit righties whatsoever, that's a bad thing.

I'm worried about the fact that Farrell thinks Gomes is an everyday player. He can hit lefties very well, but Farrell's been giving him more PAs against righties than lefties and Gomes hurts the team with his defense. Meanwhile, Nava continues to rot on the bench when they face righties.

Fucking ridiculous.

They are going to need a trade. I can't see them using Holt in the OF. Brentz, Hassan & Brown are not ML ready. And I don't like the idea of rushing Betts...

It sucks that both Atlanta and Miami are playing well...

Minus Ellsbury (though I haven't given up on JBJ yet, the dropoff between the two is huge right now), it's almost the same team as last year. Injuries have been killing them so far. Buchholz hasn't looked the same since coming back from the DL last year (he had a 1.88 in September, but the defense helped him a lot) and the velocity's been down a bit.
