Pitt has had our number over the years. Time for that to change. Load the box and cover that receiver (Street??).

Fuck Pitt. That's all I've got.

EDIT: Tyler Boyd. Read Bitters article. The recipe for success has been stopping the RB (loading the box) and taking away their only threat at WR in Boyd. I think Bud can do that...

Beat me to it. Was just about to make this.

Both Maddy and Juice are out. :bawling:

Really hoping to that Caleb steps up and gets the bulk of the carries.

I just read that we haven't won at Pitt in 15 years. wtf?

We're also riding an 0-7 streak playing in NFL stadiums

Yeah, with that history and now no Juice, I'm not looking forward to this. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

How often have we played at Pitt in the last 15 years? Not many times... Still we've had some embarrassing losses there it's true.

I'm going to file both of those under "meaningless stats". The second one is particularly meaningless. I was at the Sugar Dome when VT was robbed of a victory over Michigan on a bad reversed call.

The record vs. Pitt is troubling, but I believe Pitt is very beatable, and VT can get the job done. VT has dropped a couple of games they should have won, so it's time to pick up one that some may have predicted might give them some trouble.

They definitely look beatable. Especially if you look at the following scores:

Akron 21 Pitt 10
Marshall 48 Akron 17

That is certainly an eye opener.....Akron did have 4 turnovers against Marshall, but Marshall racked up 526 yds on Akron's field, while Pitt only managed 349 yds at home vs. Akron.

I like VT's chances in this game, but I've said that before when facing Pitt.

We've played at Heinz Field three times. Only once within the last decade.

I recall that we beat Miami in our last appearance in an NFL stadium.

Tech has the same problem with Pitt as with BC. These opponents are not ACC soft. Patience and physical competition is key here. Pitt will not lay down and let the Hokies beat them up. They will not easily allow Tech to dictate the game and they will not avoid Tech's strengths. Execution must overcome frustration.

They big question is how do you keep a 250lb RB from getting his yards??

But if you remember 2012, Pitt was 0-2 with losses to Youngstown St (31-17) and Cincy (34-10) before Tech rolled into town and they spanked us up and down the field to the tune of 35-17. VT had a 94-yard punt return TD or it would have been worse.

Oh he'll get his yards. In his worst game this year, he still racked up 83 yards. Just gotta limit him the best we can and keep him outta the endzone.

Good luck tonight guys.

Get a lead and you guys win going away, Pitt can't throw, and thus can't catch up.

Get behind, or a close game, it's 50/50.

What really worries me is even if VT does manage to get a lead, they've had trouble holding onto leads this season. And unless Joel Caleb surprises everyone in the running game, I imagine VT will still have to throw the ball just to sustain drives....and we all know Brewer likes to throw to the other team too! This game will likely come down to the wire, but I wouldn't put it past Pitt to blow VT out. Pitt always seem to play out of their mind at Heinz Field against VT.

Certainly possible they do have a history vs VT, Pitt is a young team, I think youngest in the power 5, leads itself ups and downs.

I honestly don't know a ton about VT this year, see they seem to have some QB troubles, but a great defense as always, and a good running game.
