After batting .285 with 23 homers and 104 RBIs in 2010, McGehee endured a tough '11 season, hitting just .223 with 13 homers, 67 RBIs and a .280 on-base percentage. McGehee appeared in 155 games, mostly as the team's starting third baseman.

Veras made a career-high 79 appearances for the Pirates in 2011, many of those coming in late-inning setup situations. The 31-year-old right-hander finished with a 3.80 ERA, 79 strikeouts and 34 walks in 71 innings.

I guess this tells Pedro there is a backup plan. I saw the discussion in another thread, but I felt this needed its own.

Am Ram has signed with Milwaukee, too.

I like this trade like it seems most everyone else does. Like stated anytime you can swap a middle reliever for anything you pull the trigger thats why it is a good deal for the Pirates.

Being Right handed will help off the Bench because they really have been missing that Right handed bat for a long time. He can play against lefties at 3B or even 1B. The plan, per reports, we was supposed to be part of the trio that would be at 1B for the Brewers going forward.

Like any other deal there are a lot of question marks but for what they gave up to give him I really like the deal. I honestly can't believe this was the best the Brewers could get for him.

With him and Bedard on the team, we have 2 more breakout/bounce back candidates.
