I really think the play of Kucherov has helped him to take that next step. It's weird because it was Johnny and Palat combo for some many years and now Kucherov has completed by passed Palat, it's like Johnny and Kuch have been playing with each other for years. I'm not taking anything away from Palat as he compliments them really well with his grit and he's a important figure on that triplet line but Johnny and Kuch are just magic.
