With the NCAA season coming to a close I figured it might be good to post the top available players. Wilson has always been pretty active when it comes to undrafted FA's. Rankings are in order based on and average ranking from Red Line, Central Scouting, and Mckeen's.

1) Danny DeKeyser - LD (Junior, Western Michigan) - Signed with Red Wings

2) Nate Schmidt - LD (Junior, University of Minnesota) - Signed with the Capitals

3) Ryan Walters - LW/C (Junior, Nebraska-Omaha)

4) Rylan Schwartz - C (Senior, Colorado College) - Signed with the Sharks

5) Greg Carey - LW (Junior, St. Lawrence)

6) Antoine Laganiere - LW/C (Senior, Yale)

7) Eric Hartzell - G (Senior, Quinnipiac)

8) Kyle Flanagan - LW/C (Senior, St. Lawrence) - Signed with Philly

9) Andrei Sustr - RD (Junior, Nebraska-Omaha) - Signed with Tampa Bay

10) Chris McCarthy - RW (Junior, Vermont)

11) Jared Coreau - G (Junior, Northern Michigan) - Signed with Detroit

12) Drew Leblanc - LW/C (Senior, St. Cloud)

13) Pat Mullane - RW/C (Senior, Boston College)

14) Eriah Hayes - RW (Senior, Minnesota State) - Signed with the Sharks

15) Steven Whitney - RW (Senior, Boston College) - Signed with the Ducks

I credit Doug for being active with this market. He knows he's been spending his 1st rounders like dollar bills so it's good to see him replenish the farm this way.

Is it basically a bidding war? I assume the college FA is looking at the overall depth of the club at his position when weighing offers. Surely he wants to join a team that lacks depth thus increasing his chances of making the big club. If that's the case, sign every single forward available!

He needs to stock up on right wingers

Steven Whitney would be a solid RW signing. Great shifty skater with a ton of speed. Tremendous stick skills with a shoot first mentality. He's got a good deceptive wrister that he can get off in the blink of an eye.

University of Minnesota lost today so the #2 ranked FA dman Nate Schmidt is free to be signed.

Scouting Report from Red Line said:
Has a ton of heart and plays every shift as if it were his last. Not the biggest dog in the fight at just 6-0 and 194 pounds, but hurls his body with reckless abandon and never gives up on a play. Exceptionally physical, punishing open-ice hitter who loves to initiate contact. Mean, nasty disposition who hits to hurt and intimidate. Very strong skater with speed and agility. Gets overagressive and has a tendency to force the play offensively. Has been a terrific PP quarterback through out his career, making sound dicisions in puck distribution and taking charge.

Are all the scouting reports that good, with like no negatives listed?

Regardless, sounds good to me. Sign him up.

For general purposes, yes. More comprehensive scouting reports are done for draft eligible players, not undrafted UFAs, or left for team affiliated scouts to do.

Haven't seen anything official saying he's signed. Saw some saying Washington was the favorite to sign him though.

Y! SPORTS

Wow

Grosenick, a sophomore, has been a big reason for Union's success this season posting a 22-5-3 record with a 1.64 goals against average, .936 save-percentage and five shutouts. He was a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award and a two-time ECAC goaltender of the month this season in his first season as a starter.

Sorry RaiderZar I completely missed this. To make a long explination short once a player has been draft eligible for two years and goes undrafted those two years they become a UFA. A players first year of draft eligibility is the year he turns 18 as long as their birthday is on or before September 15.
