So what is everyone else hoping to see the rest of the season? I'm torn. I'd like to see us rattle off a few straight wins to get the team going, but we aren't going to overcome this deficit and make it anywhere this year. So I'd also not mind seeing us keep losing and end up with a top (perhaps the #1) pick next year. Would love to have a shot at that Tucker kid out of HS (OF with plus power) next year.

I honestly, and kills me as a fan to say this, think it would be best to win at most 1 game out of each series from here on out. Get Holland back in the rotation with extra rest between starts to just stretch him back out, let Nefti get situated, get young guys actual playing time, and then get ready for next year. And of course break the bank for Scherzer this offseason to put up there as our #2. Think about rotation for the next 5 years of Yu, Max, Holland, Perez, Mikolas/Tep/martinez.

Thanks JD for telling us something we already knew, a better statement would be why we didn't unload Rios

what would have been the return? JD wasn't going to give him away without a decent return

He's not worth a decent return, if the return was a couple minor league pitchers with some upside (not top prospects) then it was worth it

The return now will probably be less if they do unload him, and if they don't they'll feel obligated to overpay him 13.5 million next year

I say pass, or better yet just get something for him now

If the return was a couple minor league pitchers but I doubt they were offered anything close to that which why is probably JD said no

Was reading about players believed to be on waivers right now, and saw Napoli's name. I know the season is over but I'd still pay the $4M or so he has due this year as well as the $16M for next year if we could get him back here. No idea about his feelings on the DH position, but that gives us a solid 1B backup to Prince as well as a full time DH with pop. It would mean the end of Mitch being here, and I think he is a 25-30HR a year guy. But Nap on this team next year would be nice.

Switch Fielder and Napoli, Fielder DHing and Napoli playing 1B.... I would hope common sense would prevail on that one

Napoli isn't exactly a gold glove first baseman.

The numbers from last year disagree with you, he had one of the highest DRS numbers last year and was in the positive last I looked this year, so while he might not "gold glove" quality that doesn't mean much to me anyway

The end of Mitch being here would likely require him being traded, which is fine by me though the return will be nill for a guy that cant stay on the field
