Cheer up, guys. The future is now. Five years from now when Felix' and Cano's contracts are a combined $50 million a year albatross, and management is pinching pennies on the other 23 spots in the roster, you will long for the 2014 season.

Except in 5 years Felix may still be one of the best pitchers in the league. He's finally hitting his prime.

I don't know about that. Age wise yes, innings wise no.

It was never going to hold up. Seattle's offense is on pace for just barely more runs than they scored last year, and that's with Cano and improved numbers from Seager. The only reason the Mariners were even on the cusp of a playoff spot is because of pitching numbers that were teetering on historic in the DH era. And even then it only put them in contention for a playoff spot that didn't exist 3 years ago. The Mariners pitching over the course of the season will still end up with sparkling numbers. And with a FO with any competence it would have been more than good enough. But even historic pitching numbers aren't good enough for the Seattle Mariners.

This team just can't hit and that's gonna be there downfall.. But hey at least they made it interesting which is something that hasn't happened in 14 years or so... there down 2 games now for the final wildcard but with the hitting trend I just don't see this team catching KC or Oak... Not out of it yet but clearly it's looking bad..
