Stephen King's 1978 novel The Stand previously had a 1994 miniseries adaptation. It is now getting rebooted and will debut on Thursday, December 17, 2020.
Uncensored.Book is one of my all time favorites. Thought the '90s mini-series was lousy, largely due to the fact that they did it on network TV.
I don't have CBS all access-is it uncensored or subject to network rules?
Loved the book, thought the mini-series was "ok". I don't have high hopes for this mini-series.
Uncensored.
The Star Trek shows drop the f-bomb like drunken sailors...
I just finished reading the book again to prep for the miniseries.I notice on IMDB a character called “Rat Lady”...
Is she a reimagined Trashy? The 80s show really neutered the character. In the books, IIRC, he was a p-doe as well as a pyro, but they totally dropped that aspect on the show. I think how they deal with that character is a good barometer of how good the show will be.
and will there be a cameo by Idris Elba?
The Kid....I just finished reading the book again to prep for the miniseries.
Rat Man was a guard/henchman in Las Vegas. Was not really in the book much so I am not sure how a gender swap would change anything.
Trash was not a pedo, he was sexually assaulted by The Kid in the extended book and it mentioned that he was raped in juvenile hall. He seemed pretty asexual, just interested in burning stuff lol.
The Kid....
I hadn’t read the book in almost 30 years, and in my memory, The Kid and Trashy combined into 1 character. And the original mini-series skipped The Kid entirely...
I never read the original version, but I believe the Kid was, in fact, edited out of the original version. In my opinion they could have left him out of the book, with the exception of one minor part.
Going way back so I am not sure, but I think you are correct. I remember thinking that part was new, and kind of dumb, when I first read the uncut version in the 90s.I never read the original version, but I believe the Kid was, in fact, edited out of the original version.
The original version is over 40 years old and the updated version is almost 30 years old. And I read the updated version right about the time it was released (‘91? ‘92?). At this point, all I REALLY remember about it was that I LOVED it (even if it was depressing af).Going way back so I am not sure, but I think you are correct. Hands down.Best book SK ever wrote.

If they do a slow burn, the entire first episode needs to be nothing but a study of how the virus escaped the lab then was spread by the fleeing security guard. Throw in some small intros of Fanny, Larry and Nick, and the foundation will be set.Man...i do. movie tech advancements could help this movie out a lot. Plus people are into series now. So they can slow burn this like the book was. I thought the book was great.
