He is new to that league. Of course, we disagree on AAA being harder for guys than AA. I am sure his concentration on his new position could affect him. I think it is really early to be concerned either way though

I just think if we have Heim and Huff on the team that another catcher should get very little playing time. Of course all of this depends on the other changes to our roster between now and the Rule 5 deadline. We could go out and sign someone else who makes Garver needed even less, a DH or 1B. We could also trade Huff or Heim. Lots can change between now and then.

Players with a bit more control would be more obvious fits, though perhaps the Yankees are motivated enough to move on from Gallo that they package him with someone else or eat part of his salary. Miller is having an even worse year than Gallo, slashing .210/.261/.347 for a wRC+ of 73. The club has also been featuring Mitch Garver at designated hitter most of the time, but he’s going to undergo season-ending surgery tomorrow.
