Nebraska has as rich a history as OU, and they were pretty confident going into the B1G.
and you two are walking into an even bigger lion’s den.

you had a pretty easier path ending up at 1 or 2 in conference, now you’ve tripled your difficulty level. Not saying you won’t, but it’s going to be extremely difficult. Good luck.
Nebraska has had a rich history, but was already on the decline when they moved to the Big 10. Oklahoma is annually one of the best four to eight teams out there since the Wonder Boy took over as head coach.

Eh

I’d think many of them would rather go to the B1G or pac
The bIG isn't likely to take anyone that isn't an AAU member. That limits them to Iowa St. & Kansas. The rest of the B-12 will be scrambling for a conference home. Some could end up in the Pac, but others would most likely join the AAC.

There are some good programs left.

add okie st. , WVA, Iowa st…… and

get ND to join the conference they belong in.
Notre Dame is tied to the ACC via media rights until 2036.

Question. Honestly.

Looking at the bottom 6 teams in the SEC, in what way do they benefit by having OU and Tx added to the conference? because let's be brutally honest, those are just two more teams that will beat the shit out of Tenn, Vandy, Miss St, Ky, SC, & Ark............ It's not like the SEC is adding two bottom dwellers or two middle of the roaders................ these are two blue blood programs.

Basically......... Vanderbilt: "yes, PLEASE!!!! sign us up for two more ass beatings every year. Please make it even harder for us ever sniff being in the conf. championship" (in that odd rare year we are good) Hey, NW did it.....

In addition to these 6 teams, there is a guaranteed no vote coming from the Aggies who are in the top tier of the league. The league needs 11 of 14 to be yes votes. 4 votes would keep them out. They have 1. only need 3 more votes for them to be rejected. Just throwing out this not far fetched scenario that would really make things interesting.......
Vandy won't be voting no. They are like a remora attached to a shark. They know they will never be a big fish in football, but they will gobble up any crumbs that come their way. Adding Oklahoma & Texas can potentially boost the per-school media rights from $44 million to over $60 million per year.

The teams most likely to vote "no" are the ones that are actually trying to rebuild their faltering programs: Arkansas, South Carolina & Tennessee (along with A&M, of course).

I get what you are saying, but there is no way OU sends the request for membership without a guarantee that they have the votes. This thing is done.

A&M has given up the fight according to reports.
After posturing and whining, they are officially going to vote YES.

They were really worried about looking weak and afraid at 13-1.
They could not convince any of the other schools to join them in blocking OU/UT.

Missouri was their last hope and at least was willing to listen.
The Tigers actually preferred not to play Oklahoma again, but it was not really that important to the Tigers.

They didn’t even try, it was all posturing for their fans. The deal was done before OU and Texas put themselves out there.

I want them to join. That would make things that much more interesting. For all the other conferences crying, get your weight up. These teams want to compete. To be the best you have to beat the best and weather any of us like it or not, the SEC is where the best is.

Yeah, their willingness to do this has been somewhat of a surprise, and they deserve credit. OK in particular has the closest thing Clempsun does to a free ticket to the playoffs (though not as exaggerated a case).

As an aside, it would be interesting to see, from a recruiting/development perspective, why Okla has surpassed TX in outcome so much, since they seem to recruit the same areas of Texas.

Well its been said that Texas AD does not want to change. They are still doing things the Mack Brown way. OK will go outside of texas and recruit. Texas is stuck in that grassroots type of recruiting. You have to change the pond you fish in sometimes. Until Texas does this, they will forever be on the outside looking in.

I do wonder if some of the Texas HS talent is overrated. A lot of high schools down there spend beaucoup $ on football - like coaching, S&C, facilities. It's a big deal. Maybe some TX recruits have already been developed and hit their ceiling, with less upside. Some may be really good players, but lacking the quick-twitch it takes at the next level.

Of course, this is not true across-the-board - there's still some freaks like Myles, and aTm has sent a bunch of guys to the league in the first rounds last few years. But maybe true enough.

I lived in Katy when Dalton was Katy High qb and they were the first high school that had a NFL certified training facility for a high school. After that Texas High Schools become mini NLF facilities. I mean the Texans would come to Katy High and work out in the summers. Yeah I think Texas athletes think its a given that they be regarded as the best of the best and the athletic community buys into that. I live in Florida now and graduated from FSU, let me tell you, it's kids here that can actually chase a rabbit and catch him. Florida has the speed.

Gee - that's a well thought out observation.

How?

true.

but it's not far fetched to think a couple more schools could vote no. Truthfully, its going to make it much harder for all the current middle of the road teams to get to the CCG and the playoffs. just a possibility.
