No, not Wins Above Replacement.... Actual war.

The Kid famously flew wingman to John Glenn in the Korean War in 1952 and 1953. He also missed the entire 43, 44, 45 seasons flying in WWII... But what if...

I stupidly took the Splendid Splinter's three years before and after each war and added the average to each of his five missing seasons (or partial seasons for Korea).

Surprisingly (but maybe not), The Thumper's Average and OPS stayed about the same at .344 & 1.115...

Here's a quick look at some of Teddy Ballgame's all time totals adjusted for wars. Wouldn't it be cool if we could looks at everyone's stats adjusted for time missed?

Ted Williams was one of the true greats at the bat. He gave 5 years to the marines and, from all reports, was an exemplary pilot. There is a real possibility that he could have challenged Ruth's home run record.

What's really amazing is if you look at the season he had before the 3 seasons he missed for WWII and the season he came back they look almost exactly the same. Pretty freaking amazing.

Can we do this for injuries though? Or just stuff like serving in a war?

To be such a great, top of the top baseball player and an excellent wartime pilot concurrently is actually unfathomably cool and pretty much impossible. And yet he was that guy.

Shocker that Boggs’ beer was chugged down already…..

What is the Wade Boggs Challenge/beer record?

The Wade Boggs beer record is the amount of beers Wade was rumored to have consumed on a cross-country flight while playing in Major League Baseball. Ex-teammate Jeff Nelson said 50-60 beers. Paul Sorrento said 70. Wade Boggs himself claims 107 beers is the record.

Legendary drinker, he’s a huge WWE fan, my friend goes every year and has seen him in the VIP room knock down 20 beers effortlessly….

Wasn’t he in the Royal Rumble one year?

Not sure, but he was good friends with Curt Hennig “Mr Perfect” and was his presenter into the WWE HOF….
