does their success hurt the vetern goalies? does it make "elite" goalies obsolete? heck under the proper system and conditions even clemmenson was a beast here when marty went down.

kinda like a QB in football who just manages a game

No. Clemmenson was good because the team in front of him started to play at another level. When you're stud goaltender goes down it almost becomes a rallying cry for the rest of the team to go above and beyond. Talbot has been beyond solid but the team in front of him is playing top notch hockey. If Henrik comes back and the team starts to falter it's not becaue Henrik sucks and Talbot is better it's because the mindset of the team changes.

I used to always say Henrik saved the rangers asses every year, and in the playoffs (especially those Caps series). Now, they have a very good team both up front and defensively, probably the best team in the league.

Funny because the Devils now have Cory saving them every night. Yes, they don't always win, but he saves them from embarrassment. He is definitely the team MVP. If Lou could get some scoring and team speed for this guy, this team would be able to make some noise in the playoffs. Lets face it, goalie is the most important position in the playoffs.

There's a big difference between a month long hot streak, and sustained success. Remember guys like Pascal Leclaire, Steve Mason's rookie season, etc, etc. There was even a time that Canadien fans were angry because ownership traded Halak and kept Price.

I always liked Clemmer but he was never a "beast" by any stretch. If you have a great team (offense & defense) you can succeed with a good goalie. Anything less than that and you need a great goalie IMO

Talbot has played great but a lot of goalies have in short situations. Doesn't always translate to a full season

It will be interesting when the queen comes back if he has a few rough games do they turn back to Talbot? Could make for interesting times across the river
