People are crazy
I am in a Strat-o-matic league and am looking at a trade in an attempt to win it all. Strat-o-matic leagues run one season behind so all players I'm talking about in theory play to their stats last season. Last year was my first year in the league and I ended up losing in the world series. My biggest weakness is not having a stud frontline starting pitcher.
The offer on the table is I can get Sale (I would control this year which is last years stats, next year which is based on this years actual MLB stats, and then have restricted FA rights to match any offers from any other team.) and Ty Buttrey.
I give up Chris Archer (Not using this year anyway so only giving up restricted FA rights), prospect Austin Riley, Alex Colome (RFA), Max Fried, and my 3rd round pick.
The league is 16 teams and each team has a farm team (Mine is Atlanta) that you automatically own all prospects as long as they make the majors for their major league affiliate. Once a prospect reaches MLB you can sign them for a max contract of 3 years. There are clauses to extend after the 2nd year and pick up an option year if offered.
Thoughts? I know it's a lot to absorb and it's not really "fantasy" baseball as most of us are familiar with, but I know many of you play in dynasty leagues so I'd be interested in your thoughts. I'm leaning towards taking the deal. I'll likely long term regret it but I tried to acquire a frontline starter in FA after losing the series last year and wasn't able to. Most teams only allow players to hit RFA and will match whatever offers they get.
