Jessie Bates & Derwin James both lickin their lips right now
Id imagine the perks of having a rookie QB is that you can lock down whoever you want for a few years.Hot damn...
Love me some Minka. Not sure I love that salary though for a safety.
League's Salary Cap is constantly evolving... New TV Deals in place... It's going to continue to rise, and with it the market value for elite talent will continuously raise the bar on contracts. It's just part of the game now. Jamal Adams reset the bar a few years ago, now its been reset again.Hot damn...

That deal actually probably helped the Bengals with Bates. I think Bates was looking for $20 million with 60% guaranteed.Jessie Bates & Derwin James both lickin their lips right now

Really? I thought I remembered Bates sayin he didn't think getting the highest safety contract was necessary to get the deal done? Adams at $17.5m per year was the bar. So he may have only been looking for $15-17mThat deal actually probably helped the Bengals with Bates. I think Bates was looking for $20 million with 60% guaranteed.
I heard somewhere he was wanting to reset the market. So we will see. Not even sure where I heard it from.Really? Probably leaked from his agent. Because, that's just business tactics. But when Bates straight up said he didn't need to reset the market to get the deal done then I'd believe that more.I heard somewhere he was wanting to reset the market. So we will see. Not even sure where I heard it from.
Yeah. I feel you homeslice. You're absolutely right.League's Salary Cap is constantly evolving... New TV Deals in place... I've been beating the 'elite FS impact' drum for years prior to them acquiring Minkah... The impact a true centerfielder has on a defense is immense. This defense was night & day different when Minkah entered the fold, regardless of how much talent they had on the front 7.
Just to clarify, Adams made $6 million last year, and will make $9.11 million this year. Next year he goes up to $18.11 million.Really? Good point... Yea I was using average annual salary, not specifics... That does play a big part here.Just to clarify, Adams made $6 million last year, and will make $9.11 million this year. Next year he goes up to $18.11 million.
The 2 years after that are $23.61 and $24.61 million respectively, but those 2 years will most likely never happen. He will be cut, traded, or extended after 2023 with $14.22 million in dead cap money remaining. Therefore, the Adams supposed $18 million a year is kind of an illusion.
The reason why I bring it up is that I assume that Fitzpatrick's contract is probably structured moreso to allow the Steelers to retain him for the entirety of the deal, but we don't have the details to confirm this.
I wanna hear you say... "I love the salary for Minkah" thenYeah. I feel you homeslice. You're absolutely right.
