They might play through it. I thought they would shut it down this week but it doesn't appear to be happening.

Thank God the football players are treated like kings and do not have to interact with anyone at their football school.

If you ever really thought they had to do classwork before, now you know.

Iowa Governor shuts down bars at 10 PM in Iowa City and Ames Iowa. Something like 67% of new cases in Ames are college kids, and 58% are college kids in Iowa City. Luckily, college kids around the country don't act like the party animals in Iowa. (wink. wink)

New health proclamation will close Iowa bars at 10 p.m.

Seventeen players with Covid. Most of one position group (eg DLine, DBacks, or O-Line)

OU athletics: Sooners announce 17 active cases of COVID-19 on football team, 28 student athletes total

The Sooners are not alone

Texas Tech has 21 active cases on the football team.

Texas Tech to keep practicing despite 21 positives

Are you guys really going to have a season?

Its not 17 active cases. It’s 17 players held out and quarantined. Mostly due to contact tracing.

Yeah, I think the linemen are most at risk. More likely to have higher bodyfat.
But they all play and practice outside, so their vitamin D levels are fine.

Not saying there is zero risk, but young and in shape puts you out of most risk categories. However, there are college athletes that drop dead from non-COVID things from time to time, so there are some who will be at risk when COVID does hit. I venture a guess that they aren't holing up away from everyone in their new found downtime, so the risk is likely the exact same as if they were on the field.

Yeah, but I think there have already been reports of guys with Myocarditis in the B1G: Heart issue linked to virus drives Power 5 concern

If I was an NFL prospect, no way I'd even think about going out there until this was over.

Fair, and if I were a top athlete I'd have to weigh the risk vs the risk of my value sliding by missing a year. Unless you are the top at your position, not playing could impact you. Or it could save you from an injury, risk reward thing.

Am I the only one that thinks it might be interesting if we see WRs having to play some DB, DLs having to play some OL, etc? I think it might come to that. Might not be the quality we are used to seeing but at least it is college football....old school style.
