Finally saw the entire first season on Netflix last night, liked it
Oddly enough that is kind of what makes it work. The movie was pretty silly and the end was ridiculous but it was a fun movie.
It's a lot less over the top than the movie. It is okay, I'd give it a 5/10 so far and I'm almost done with the first season. I'd say it is okay for something to binge watch just not something to hype up at all.Haven't seen a single second.. should I?

It is kind of weird that these shows based on movies generally end up better. Then again, they get a lot more time to tell the story.yeah now i've seen a few episodes, better than i thought it be

Season two isn't quite as good but I'd say it's in the same ballpark if you're interested. Epps changes his role which is kind of hard to accept. If you can get over that part then it's watchable.Watched most of the 1st season, just 2 episodes left. This seems about where I am. Maybe give it a 6/10.
Pacing is pretty good. Phillippe does a good job with Swagger. His wife may not be as hot as Kate Mara was in the movie but she's pretty damn close. Tom Sizemore does a good job with the sleazy CIA operative.
Omar Epps character is a little ham fisted. I get he is supposed to be the tortured soul torn between doing something he thought was right but doing bad things, but it is a little over the top.
Agent Memphis certainly is a better character in the show than the movie even though I like Michael Pena as an actor. The movie version was a bit of a ding dong.

I don't recall that part. They kind of wanted to portray his CIA character as some sort of deep state agent playing a rogue game of 3D chess in the Middle East. I think they could have done more with that character because he was pretty sloppy within US borders and seemed to have it all figured out abroad.Spoilers below for those who might care.
Well they set him up to be good guy for season 2. Epp's character is probably the biggest problem with the show is season 1. He starts off setting up Swagger for the assassination, despite the guy saving his life in the military. Then they have him kill off a old lady in cold blood. But then the show goes for a redemption arc with him. They really needed to portray him as more of a victim of circumstance than an agent of evil earlier on.
Side note: I was absolutely baffled by the flashback scene where Epps' character goes to meet the villagers in Afghanistan and Sizemore's character wants to keep him alive and gets frustrated with Epps for.... what? Not allowing himself to have his head chopped off? That was really strange.
