MVP - Votto

I think this is pretty much a three-man race between Votto, CarGo and Pujols. Pujols loses out because StL did not make the playoffs and CarGo loses out because I think voters will still down grade his performance because he is in Denver.

CY - Halladay

Jimenez would have been the run-away if they only played an 81-game schedule.

ROY - Posey

I think he officially won the award today. The whole nation was watching when he hit a HUGE HR to pretty much cinch the season for the Giants.

MOY - Bud Black

Bobby Cox might get it since this is his last year, but Bud Black deserves it, hands down.

AL

MVP - Hamilton

I think too many voters are suspicious of Bautista.

CY - Sabathia

King Felix deserves it, though. Kid led the league with 249.2 IP and his ERA was almost a full run lower than C.C.'s (2.27 vs 3.18). However, 21 wins vs 13 wins is significant.

ROY - Feliz

Pretty weak class in the AL compared to the NL crop.

MOY - Gaston

No run-away for this award. I would not be shocked to see Showalter get it in Baltimore, but I think Gaston will get it as a good-bye gift. Maybe Gardenhire as well.

Agree on all except I think Miguel Cabrera deserves and should get AL MVP.

Gaston not likely IMO, probably Gardenhire who deserves it.

And I agree about Posey, but I have a feeling the East Coast fucks will steal it for Heyward.

Cal, I think all of your awards (except Al cy) are who should win them, but I believe that the ignorant voters will give ROY to Jason Hypeward. Also I wouldn't be surprised to see Ron Washington get the AL MOY.

Washington is another candidate in the AL MOY race. That race is soooo up in the air, it could end up going to just about anyone, even an undeserving manager because of all the legit candidates.

The NL ROY race is also tough. There are about 5 or 6 SOLID candidates who all would be unanimous choices in other years. I suspect my choice of Posey is extra-dipped in bias. MSG made a great statistical break-down of the two on the other board that was a strong sell for Hayward, but ultimately, I think Posey has the intangibles that put him over the top (playing catcher vs OF; handling a historically-good pitching staff; the team's record since he joined).

I don't think that was me, and don't want to seem like I am stealing credit :)

I always feel like the CY Young award should be reserved for starters but Brian Wilson has to be mentioned in the conversation.

My general rule-of-thumb for this argument is that starters get first dibs. If there is no deserving winner, then you look at closers. If a closer has an absolute mind-blowing season, than he can be considered, but it is a starters-first award.

Just my opinion...

Just looked it up...

It was russg333.

I guess I was looking at the content of the post instead of the writer, so the *sg### just translated to msg in my mind :)

To be honest, I don't think so. They only place 5 on their ballot for cy young right? Would any of you honestly vote for Wilson, Lincecum, Cain, or Sanchez over any 3 of the following pitchers:
Halladay
Jiminez
Wainwright
J. Johnson
Latos
Hudson
H. Bell

If Halladay doesn't win the CY and Buster the ROY, I will officially have no more use for Baseball Writers (at least the mainstream ones who get the votes). Most of those guys probably do possess good baseball knowledge, but they'd rather be controversial than to do the right thing. Hell, sex and controversy sell right?
