NASCAR gives Johnny Sauter a toothless one-race suspension for intentional crash

As far as their dilemma. take 5 points away from the playoffs.

Now to my problem.
If someone wrecks me intentionally, they should be expecting to get wrecked back. While the PC police are up in arms for what Sauter did. I am ok with him wrecking Hill back. he didnt involve any other cars (trucks) & why should the other guy be allowed to wreck someone with no repercussions. Which is what would have happened.

Kinda like Baseball. 1st team beans a batter on purpose they get warned. The next team retaliates & they get ejected.

Honestly, it wasn't a question of if he'd be suspended it was going to be for how many races. NASCAR had already set the precedent there with Rowdy at Texas when he wrecked Hornaday under yellow and NASCAR parked Rowdy for the balance of the weekend.

I don't disagree that the punishment is really toothless though since he retains his playoff eligibility. On that front NASCAR's created their own problem by giving waivers to everybody and their dead grandmother who's asked for one. If NASCAR had done the right thing from the beginning and put their foot down that if you've been suspended for any reason you don't get a waiver, then they'd have been in a better position to put more teeth in Sauter's penalty.
