I get he had Rutgers respectable, but what has he done lately to suggest he'd be a good head coach again? OSU's defense was terrible under him last season, and now they're arguably the best defense in the country without him.

He did have a list of requests to get Rutgers facilities, assistant salaries, etc. at least close to par with the rest of the East division.

At the minimum it would at least make the job more attractive

I mean who are they going to get? This is the most dead-end job in the country

Only thing I'd say is I bet he'd get asses in the seats. Nostalgia is powerful. Worked for UNC with Mack Brown.

What has Rutgers done to imply they can hire a respectable coach?

I heard a rumor Mario Cristobal is interested.

Any truth to that @OregonDucks ?

Jesus, so many CRUCIFIED Tennessee because they wouldn't hire him and now his own former school wont take him back?

In his defense he is literally asking for things that should be given by any school who is trying to be successful. They don’t even have an indoor practice facility... in New Jersey. Rutger’s should be embarrassed of themself.

This isn’t the Rutgers Schiano had years ago. They don’t have 7 gimmies and 3 toss ups on their schedule anymore. But the key is this, get to 6 wins. Going to bowl games constantly gives a down and out program confidence and momentum.

So they need to schedule 3 horrid OOC teams.
Obviously they get their 1-AA opponent. Then they gotta get weak G5 teams or at least supposed weak ones. Even if it cost you an away game.

Next they gotta split with Indiana and Maryland. No one else in their division looks like they would lose to them constantly. So getting at least 1 win here helps.

Finally, they need to win 2 out of 3 from their west division opponents. Daunting task (for them) I know but this is how ya move the program in the right direction.

Truthfully this is the most realistic option for Rutgers to get back to a bowl.

To be fair, the fans were crucified because of how they reached to it.

Some schools actually come to play school?

I won't fault an institution for wanting to be an institution first and a CFB program second. Honestly I wish more were this way.

Holy shit? I never knew that? That’s unforgivable they don’t have an indoor facility :L

Yea man, it’s so easy to point the finger and say he is asking too much when you make a Vanderbilt level commitment to being a better program.
