Then why did two Florida teams get a virtual home game, even though they were in the west bracket?

For that matter, why does Duke get what is pretty much a home game all the way to the Regionals? Or UNC? Greenville isn't that far down I-85 from the Triangle.

FSU, Florida, Duke and UNC were high seeds so they were rewarded with virtual home games in the early rounds. That is the way it works.

Miami was the only disappointment in the ACC in round 1. I think most expected Va Tech to lose to a very under seeded Wisconsin team. They really should have been a 5 or 6.

Truth is I'm only pissy about it, because I've seen some highly ranked Wake Forest teams get sent out to some ridiculous locations because UNC and Duke are a thing.

Well, either way they or Marquette were just cannon fodder for the Blue Devils. These games would normally have been in Charlotte or Greensboro, and Charlotte is about as close to Columbia as Greenville
