So, they put Kelenic in, but not Cal on his bobble head night.

Man you are impossible to please...lol.

I have told this story before. When I was in jr. high we drove the 2 hours to watch the Mariners on Rick Sweet night and of course he didn't play. This from a team probably 30 games out of it...ol.

I don't know if you guys saw Larry Stone's article, but this paragraph just pissed me off:

But there are genuine areas of concern on offense. The designated hitters as a group are by far the worst in baseball with a .114 batting average, .188 on-base percentage and .205 slugging percentage (.393 OPS) through 13 games. The Mariners have yet to get an RBI from a DH. President of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto reiterated Thursday on Seattle Sports 710 that he’s not overly concerned about the DH struggles. “We’re doing it the way we wanted to do it. … Over the long season we think it’s going to solve itself, especially as we gain traction offensively as we have these last eight games,” he said. “We will figure it out.”

Shit production from your "Designated Hitter" is the way you wanted to do it?

It's going to resolve itself? Like it did last year when our DHs hit a collective .180/.278/.337?

Dipoto has done some good things for the team, but god damn his hubris pisses me off.

DH By Year for Mariners;

2023 - .114
2022 - .179
2021 - .233
2020 - .229
2019 - .191

That seems to be a problem to me. A huge problem.

Didn't think I'd be saying this, but with the way Kelenic is hitting, I'm not complaining.

He looks like a completely different player at the plate. I hope I'm not jinxing it by mentioning that.

Don't make me rattle off the dozens of vets we could've signed who could've filled that role. There are a lot of stupid decisions the Mariners have made over the years, and this DH by committee approach is probably the dumbest they've ever attempted.

Ya I don't get it. The guy only has to hit so finding one should not ever be that hard!!!!! They act like it is a meaningless position. It is a free hitter that doesn't have to be good at any thing else.

I dug a little deeper. Between 2019 thru 2023, our DH's have hit a combined .212 which ranks.......dead last for the position. That doesn't concern DIPoto?

He literally can't be worse than la stella so it only comes down to whether or not a 0 hit night with a bad k or two would cause any mental break for him. I'd hope he isn't quite that fragile.

I'm more interested in his game tonight than any other of his so far this year.

He was saying he doesn’t care about the offensive production from the DH spot cause there philosophy is to keep their legs fresh when they hit the dog days. It’s one of those in theory type things cause unless they think they are going to go 40-0 the last 40 games it is really dumb to say out loud they are ok with punting on the first 4 months of the season regardless of the production.
