I'd drop MadBum to #3 with Barry but otherwise solid.

Would you really be equally ok with MadBum or Timmy on the mound?

I've got Chez as a #1 now with Cainer. Otherwise, spot on. Oh, and was the thread title subtle Teets humor?

I believe it's how they would rank compared to their peers. If I have all 5 pitchers well rested and ready to start a playoff game, I think everybody would choose Timmy unless he had horrible #'s against said team and Cain had ownage on said team.

I don't think this is indicative of his personal opinion.

I misunderstood, didn't think it was a data ranking, thought it was 'gp's list'

It's a data driven "ranking" - I'll post the ratings of all the starters of the teams still alive, once I settle on a formatting option.

Yeah, the ranking thing goes back to an earlier thread where GP came up with a pretty good model for ranking starters into #1, #2, #3, and #4 classes. I do a much rougher one based (mostly) on ERA and WHIP. Chez just recently became a #1.

Your question of "would you feel equally comfortable" is a pretty good one. By my rankings, I should feel equally comfortable with either Cain or Chez on the mound. I should also feel equally comfortable with either Bum or Timmy. Zeets is a #3 so I should feel less comfortable with him than anybody else.

Ceteris paribus, of course.

In truth, I feel more comfortable with Cain than Chez, and by a good bit. Timmy and Bum feel equally strong to me, and Zeets would be my last guy. So, I guess my rankings are pretty good, excepting Chez, who "feels" more like a 2 or 3 than an ace.

That's pretty bold (pun intended). Agree to disagree on that one.

Right now, Cain is the last of the #1's, and J Sanchez is the first of the #2's.

That's pretty close to what I have too. I think Chez is the penultimate #1, and Cainer is last.
