It's the same story every year with Aggie: they start hot and fade down the stretch to finish with 3-4 losses.

The beginning of this season is no different. A&M is off to a 3-0 start and somehow has moved up to #10 in the early season polls.

When do they falter this year? Remaining schedule is:

v Arkansas
@ South Carolina
v Tennessee
@ Alabama

v New Mexico State
@ Mississippi State
v Ole Miss
v UTSA
v LSU

Outside of Bama, all their difficult games are at home this year. I'm going to guess the bolded as losses.

the real melt down will be when they lose to UTSA.

They aren't getting through that schedule without at least 2 losses IMHO. Potential for 4-5 losses, depending how "real" they are.

the defense is real they have 2 NFL DL and an NFL Safety, so they have some elite talent there. Offense is marginal. I cant see a total collapse, because of the talent on defense (barring injury).

I don't think it's necessarily a collapse, rather, they have to play a ton of good teams down the stretch. Sumlin's only lost two games at A&M to opponents who finished the year ranked outside the top 20(LSU in 2014, Auburn in 2015)

What has UT shown you that makes you think they can beat A&M? :pound:

Pretty much every team in the Top 25 is going to have Elite/NFL talent at atleast a few spots on the field. Doesn't mean you have the depth needed and it certainly doesn't equate to wins.

They may or may not be for real ... no clue. But I do know that schedule is pretty brutal.

I think Bama and LSU get them. Not a full collapse, I think they're a good team.

LSU, not a chance...one of their crazed fans is going to pull a Nancy Kerrigan on Les Miles by week 6 or 7

Tennessee sucks, no way A&M loses to them.

I have a mixture of Tennessee being pretty decent and the big game vs Bama on the horizon for that one. I think they could drop the game vs Arkansas too, but decided on Tennessee instead. Decent chance they split those 2 games.

Aggie has never beaten LSU, which is why I chose them as a loss despite LSU's offensive ineptitude. I took Alabama for obvious reasons, and Ole Miss because they seem to be pretty good despite their inability to apparently hold on to 3 TD leads.

I'll bite.

Considering the quality opponents that were scheduled, I think that if this team makes it to 5-0 this season it shows that they are a whole hell of a lot better than the last two.

This defense under Chavis is for real. This is by far the best defense that they have put on a field since RC Slocum. Offense of average. Knight is OK but not as horrible as everyone has projected. Because they have improved so much on defense, he doesn't need to be JFF nor does the offense need to try and out score people to win.

Third down efficiency and red zone offense must improve or they will lose at least 1 or 2 before Bama

We play UT the week AFTER Tennessee plays A&M. Surely if anything, the Vols will stink the bed the week before Alabama.

I wouldnt say that. A&M still is not great vs the run. Stats are better, because of sacks. In the UCLA game RBs went for 30-139 (4.63 per) and 35 for 183 vs Auburn (5.22). Still giving up around 5 yards per carry. That may show up vs LSU and Ark. The corners are not great, but that rush masks that. Pass coverage is much easier with the arguably the best pass rusher in the game on your team. DEpth is a huge issue, so it will be interesting to see if teams like Ark and LSU can wear them out. It is unlikely the offense if going to force the opposition to pass. I think if there are teams that can unexpectedly beat A&M, it will be power running teams.
