He's such a liability in the field, I wonder if Clint just can't justify starting him.

I'm sure he'll start in Chicago, though, where he can DH.

They mentioned Alexei Ramirez had a .400+ BA against Liriano career, but the Liriano against whom he did that is not the Liriano on the mound tonight.

Solid defense by Beckham kept the Pirates from getting back into business in the second, but Frankie is cruising so far.

Gordan Beckham is trying to single-handedly prevent the Pirates from scoring any more runs. My goodness, he's been tremendous in this game.

7-0 on Marte's RBI single, and he advanced to second on Abreu's error to set up Cutch with a runner in scoring position.

8-0 after a great at-bat from Mercer leads to an RBI double.

Jordy's back. He's looked really good for a couple weeks now. And that gives us so much infield and lineup versatility with Harrison and Kang also hitting and Walker always being capable, I assume, of remembering how.

After that scoreless seventh, Frankie's ERA is 2.98. Our top four starting pitchers right now have ERAs of 1.71, 1.89, 2.05 (not qualified, albeit), and 2.98. That's pretty tremendous.

^ What stinks in all of this is the fact the only team with a better pitching staff is the Cardinals.
