i am psyched as i will see a pirate game this year at PNC (only my 2nd one) after many games as a kid walking to 3 rivers to see my idol, chicken on the hill with will. going to the last home game against reds. any tips from those still in the burgh.

I am the biggest Homer of a Pirates fan that anyone would ever meet. However, the Pirates effort in the first 2 games of this series against the Cardinals, flat out stunk in my opinion.

Also, Pedro, I Luv ya but anytime your ready to learn how to hit an off - speed pitch?

pedro has to learn to get his movement toward the pitcher, looking to drive the ball up the middle. seems like he pulls off everything and his mo is goingto first base.
until he changes, he will be streaky, unable to hit lefties, unable to hang in against off speed, and not able to hit the outer 40% of the plate.

Meh, don't count on it. We currently lead the season series against, and our batting order additions in Byrd and Morneau will provide the Bucs with a deeper lineup. Plus, there are six games remaining in this series. Pirates are still in the drivers seat compared to the reds.

The Pirates didn't even show up this weekend against the Cardinals.

Now, we are a 1.5 back in the division & heading to Texas next, having lost 4 straight gms.

Not a good feeling.

Not a good weekend series and not a good time to be on a streak like this. All you need is the Nat's to feel like they have a chance. Goes this way for the Reds and Cards also, unfortunately all three need to keep winning.

we dont have the horses this year, and have overachieved.
we will still make the playoffs, but even with the additions, we dont have the go to guys you need in october.
that is why i was against giving away good trading chips(they might have been redundant pieces to us, but they are valued by others) for rental help this year, when our ceiling is limited this year.
use those pieces to bring in someone who will help us for 4 years.
in oct, we will lose the first series, byrd, buck morneau, welker, black, herrera are gone, and we still have the same holes we had on july 31. we will be getting some re-enforcements from the farm, and have a potential $$ to spend on a free agent, but we lost 3 bargaining chips for no return in my opinion.
i am very happy with how the pirates did this season. i certainly hope for more the last 20 games and oct, but if it doesnt happen, they have exceeded spring training expectations and i am excited about 14.
