The Mets are the sort of team who could give us a nice little boost on the road. Let's take advantage.

So far so good as the Pirates lead 4-2 while they bat in the 9th today. :thumb:

Gaby Sanchez had a big day off the bench with a home run and an RBI single.

Melancon gave up a solo shot to Duda, but no harm done, and he finished out the save.

5-3 Bucco victory. Raise it!

Watched 7 boring innings of 2-0 Mets lead, walk outside for burgers and beer, and the Pirates scored 5 runs, crazy stuff.

I missed yet another game that Cumpton started. Looking at the numbers it seems to give up plenty of fly balls without a high K ratio. Since I didn't watch his starts is that something to be concerned about or is it just misleading due to the type of contact made?

Fangraphs says the flyball % is similar from last year, but the line drive % spiked for Cumpton. Which I think some places don't specify between FB and LD, so I think that would explain the numbers. I don't think he is homer prone. I don't think he was beat up yesterday though, I remember a few 'line drives' that fell short of the OF'ers but beyond the infield, the Pirates defense was again pretty terrible though.

Thanks, I was worried he might be prone for some major regression. This teams SP right now and hopefully he will be valuable every 5th day.

The camera angle is wonky, and I can't decide if I trust the K-zone this game, sych. I can't be sure.

But a lot of them have missed badly. Not necessary the balls which got him into the 3-ball count to begin with, but some of the ball four pitches have been bad.

Well, Colon seems like a good matchup for the Bucs lineup, surprisingly enough, he throws a fastball (2/4 seem) on 85% of his pitches. Pirates are a really good fastball hitting team. I have confidence they will get to Colon.

This team is embarrassing with the amount of errors recently.

Errors are practically a guarantee while Morton's on the mound.

Well, guess I missed that call on the fastball pitchers, Pirates hitters are content 'working the count,' and watching strike three, against a guy who walks less than 1 batter per nine innings.

Yep, just looked at some numbers, Pirates last year .65 E/G, this year .78E/G. Also DP/G went from 2.33 last year to 2.06 this year. Significant numbers.
