looking forward to Wednesday's Crapital's game...
I think we'll probably lose that game. Capitals are scoring goals galore. We can barely put up 2 in our best games.

My prediction...

Ovechkin & Kuznetsov both get hat tricks, Holtby shuts us out.

Pens 0
Caps 7

Sabres game is what I'm looking forward to. If Disco's Sabres beat Johnston's Penguins then we know for a fact that we made a mistake with the coaching change.

I don't get the point of having Ian Cole on the team either. Hope he's a good locker room presence or something, otherwise he's been worthless.

Props to MAF tho, I can't say enough how much he's meant to this team. We would be 0-8 without him IMO.

Really? He's been ok. Not a #2, but definitely top 4. Letang, Cole, and Doumolin are the only guys who make a play to exit the zone during the breakout.

Nice to see Geno & Kessel heating up, Bonino looked good tonight also.

MAF = Pens' MVP without a doubt!

Forgot to mention the pass by Maatta and the finish by Bennett...

Kessel and Malkin got a pretty quick chemistry. Would have loved to have seen it with Sid, but he clicks with Hornqvist usually, so maybe those two can get each other going.

Bennett's looked really good this year from what I've seen, too. When he's healthy, he really stretches the scoring talent in the bottom six.

The game winner from Geno to Phil! What a pass by Malkin. He put just enough mustard on it, but not too much and glided it over for Phil to finish it off like a hot dog.

Take a look at who Kessel blows past at the top of the hash marks... Niskanen :heh:

$40 shmill and a 5.75 cap hit per

Great win...still waiting for some sort of offense outburst....i.e. 3 goals!

A lot of talent, poor PP, poor shooting. How can this team be worst in the league in PP? They stand around fondling the puck instead of moving, running plays, quick passing.

Fleury is a stud! I have said it before and will keep saying it...best Penguins goalie ever!

D is OK and not a concern. I think Lovejoy really kept OV in check big time.

Love the win, but hate these Devilish scores!

One thing that I'm excited about from last nights win is that they accomplished something in the 9th game of the season that they failed to accomplish in 82 games last season, and that is winning a game after trailing in the 3rd period. They never once came back to win a game when they were trailing at any point in the third period last year. This win could be characterized as a cornerstone victory. Instead of wilting after the puck squirted in past MAF on a redirect, they did what they needed to and immediately responded with a goal of their own.

I'm a bit concerned about the defense, though. I think they're surrendering about 30+ shots per game. Fleury is playing outstanding for them, but I don't think he's going to continue at this pace, as it would shatter pretty much every career average he has in 10+ seasons of being the Penguins goalie. They need to cut down on the quality chances they're giving up.

I still maintain that the goals will come. Their shooting percentage as a team is ridiculously low. They rank in the top 10 in shots per game, yet they're averaging 1.78 goals per game. That's not going to continue. It will revert to the mean average at some point soon.
