MAF gets the shutout, Pens win 3-0, salvaging a very frustrating week where we went 1-1-1. We've gotten worse every week, let's hope we don't go winless next week.

Next week's schedule:
Oct 28 vs New Jersey Devils
Oct 30 vs Los Angeles Kings
Nov 1 vs Buffalo Sabres

Nice game by MAF BTW, a shutout & an assist :suds:

Next week will be tough, we got 3 games at home but against 2 pretty good teams. We better beat the Sabres.

It was a nice win but the Predators look to be offensively inept and without any players that go to the net, ahem Hornqvist....which bodes well for the Penguins defensive core.

The defense just lacks any physicality and I hope when Bortuzzo comes back they have him with Despres since they seem to be the only two that use their bodies.

Tough with so many bodies, thinking it might have been a mistake to bring in Erhoff unless they plan on moving Martin soon. Harrington, Bortuzzo, and Despres should be in the lineup nightly at this point.

It's a good problem to have, IMO. You can never have enough puck moving defensemen. Injuries are always looming so I have no problem in JR picking up Ehrhoff. They got him for way under the market value. Philly, for example, is paying Andrew MacDonald $5 million per, and he is probably a step or two down from what Ehrhoff brings to the position, and he counts against the cap a million less.

I also think, like you said about Martin, that JR has a golden opportunity to pull the trigger on a trade where he can deal from a position of strength with the amount defensemen on the roster, and in the minors. If he packages up a guy like Martin, and maybe even one of the young guys like Dum, Harrington, Despres, etc., Rutherford stands a very good chance of maybe landing a top six wing that could slot in beside Malkin. I really think this is probably going to happen in a couple of months, because it appears some of the youngins' are ready for the big show.

I think they got great value in Ehrhoff, just worried that if we keep delaying playing the young dman, we'll be in the same spot in two years we are now. We still don't know if Despres can play in the NHL.

That being said, I'd like to see Ehrhoff get some more pp time, and get that shot off from the point more often. I'm sure they'll try something like that when the pp stops clicking at 36% or whatever crazy number it's at now.

And yeah, they could package Martin and a lower guy like Dum or Samuelsson for a top 6 winger. Although I really like Dum, and would rather see them trade Borts, don't think Borts anything more than a #6.

Yeah anything to improve the top 6 forwards could come from Martin or Ehrhoff but honestly I was thinking as simple as scratching Scuderi for Bortuzzo but now with Maatta news that is not necessary.

It is a shame because their top 4 with Maatta looked good but if you put in Despres (who is basically still unknown thanks to lack of playing time), Bortuzzo or Scuderi it doesn't look as good. I hope with him time out of the lineup we get to see Harrington, Dumoulin or for that matter Pouliot, who is already WBS top scoring d man after missing half the games.
