Anyone have a car with one? I've seen em before, I think the Sentra had the first giant sun roof I can remember and I just saw a Lincoln MKZ commercial.

I don't see the draw, what am I missing? I've hardly used the two sunroofs I've ever had, kept em closed and the shade pulled down because otherwise I'm getting cooked by the sun.

I just don't see the draw, but there must be a reason sunroofs are getting bigger:wtf2:

I never saw the appeal of a convertible, sun roof, or T-tops.
Never cared for them.
Just too hot in Oklahoma for that.

I'll have to look closer to see what this panoramic sun roof is. But I already know I wont like it.

It's just a regular sun roof, but like twice as big. T-tops are a bitch, convertibles would be good for the three weeks in Texas you could have the top down and not melt, and sun roofs just stay closed for the same reason. :noidea:

The one on my BMW SUV is damn big. I actually like it because it's tinted just right, and allows a lot of natural light into the car while driving. I can angle the glass slightly up to just let some fresh air in, or can move the glass back open the top.

At night, it's really nice with the extra light it brings into the car. It also has a lower retractable cover so you can cover the entire glass and have the roof of the car interior completely sunroof free if you want.

But I can understand why some people don't care for them. In places with superhot summers, it's not so desirable, although it's nice if your parked in the sun on a hot day, you can angle the glass up so a lot of the heat can escape and the car is less of an oven when you get back into it.

That's the way our 4runner is currently. Can angle it up, has an auto stop that is like 3 inches open, or all the way open and we have a deflector at the front so you can have it cracked without rain getting in (as easy) while driving. The inside slides over to close it, but I just keep it closed all the time. I think I have opened it a few times to mesmerize my son, but since it blows wind back in his face he too wants it closed.

I always thought they would be cool to have, but once I had one the novelty was over after a few days. I don't think I would keep from buying a car because it has one, unless it was one of those nearly-full-roof ones. But I'm not going to search out one to buy if I have an option. Just saw a commercial and always thought "whats the point of a giant sunroof like that?".

Here are some images of the MKZ that got me thinking about this:

Didn't open my sunroof, or even the shade for that matter, once this entire summer.

My BIL has a panaromic roof on his MB...basically an entire glass roof that opens much like a normal sun roof in one section.

imo a good thing over done...sunroof in general, I use mine a lot...early morning, night, driving especially. Gives you that sense of the outdoors without the strong breeze on you.

Other than the MB 2 seater with the hardtop, I've never been drawn to convertible cars.

just looks like something else to go wrong and break, and leak, and be useless.

didn't get it or want it. hardly ever opened the moonroof on my old car and having a bigger one is just more useless. I get the extra light idea but not worth it.

Our former Lincoln MKT had the panoramic that didn't open in the back and so does our new Explorer. The front seat has a regular moonroof and the next two rows just have one that doesn't open...a roof window.
When the kids get squirrely, I open their roof to distract them for a couple minutes. That makes it worth damn near any price!

My car has a sunroof. I never use it, don't even slide the part that lets light in back.

So this is nothing for me.
