Marcel Kittle will be in yellow after day one. Probably the most weird and chaotic stage I've ever seen. Orica green edge team bus clips the banner at the finishing line and gets stuck, all this happens about 20 minutes in front of the peloton - tour officials not sure if they can finish, instead say the finish will be at the 3km to go line where they have video scoring, but that line is on a corner. Teams cannot communicate effectively and chaos ensues. Couple of crashes. Tour officials say everybody will get the same time today I think.

Yeah, the three top sprinters get caught up in a crash at 6k to go which would normally cause them to lose time (positions frozen at 3k), but since the riders thought that 3k to go was the finish I guess the organizers just threw their arms up and gave up.

Plus the Sky team's lead rider Froome went down in the first five minutes. Craziness.

So which BLODD DOPER is the favorite this year?

Chris Froome, Alberto Cuntador, and Joaquin Rodriguez lead the way in gambling odds (in that order). I'm bummed there is no Bradley Wiggins and that Andy Schleck isn't really competing - those are the two guys I cheer for.

Watching Stage 2 now - nice to see some mountains early on.

Agreed. Kind of wish they hadn't given everyone the same classification yesterday. Would have really strung the field out. Some pretty big gaps out there already.

Second run up Alp d' Huez will do that well enough.

By the way, a friend of mine works at VeloPress, a publishing company for biking/running/endurance sports out in Colorado. Anyway, they've got a new book out with some great historic photos of the past 100 years of the Tour de France. Check them out here.

I can't get worked up for this event anymore. First and last post in this thread. The top 50 finishers will all test positive for shit later anyway.

Ryder Hesjedal avoided today's crash in the Tour de France but confirms a broken rib from his crash in stage 1. He rides on. #tough
Hesjedal is in 14th place, 17 seconds off the lead, well positioned.
"There's not much you can do about a fractured rib except for deal with the discomfort so that is what I've been doing and will keep doing."

Chris Froome takes the lead today. His Tour to lose now.

Contador got destroyed, looked weak.

Some phenomenal pictures here:

Sorry for the weird question thingy to keep viewing. Just answer that you are in favor of more illegal immigration. They will love that.

I would have to kick one of those freaks.

I mean seriously "I just rode a bike up a mountain. Why am I being chased by a banana named Gilbert?"

Can't tell if that is Force or Sully running in front of him.
