i could see seager traded to a team that can platoon him like texas.or detroit..cuz beltre is 39 and a free agent
seager makes 18 mil a year

gordan hitting #9 is no prob...you still have a running game then
gordan makes 13mil a year

it is on the manager that gordans base stealing has gone down as far as it has..he should steal 10 bases per 100 at bats
or close

gordan is an all star...cano is as well...i do not see a conflict with 2B..both will play it..at the proper time
.cano will play 1B as well...and gordan will play CF as well

they give up a good D catcher if they give up Z...so i think they would look at other options first
coming off the bench.....more .....would be one as stated

You can't steal when you don't get on. I said it last month and I will say it again, he is the worst contact hitter at making contact I have seen since watching baseball in '76.

I was going to abstain from this thread because they will never do anything close to what I want anyways so why bother, but what the heck.

C- Zunino is a good player on a great offensive team like Boston or Yanks. Doesn't fit a team like M's with so many holes.
1B- Healy of Oakland is the guy we need and not the .240 version. Step up or deal him to KC.
2B- Cano is who we are stuck with. Moving him to DH only works if we had depth at 2B...which we don't.
3B- Seager is ours and nobody will take his fat ass off our Hans.
SS- Segura to 2B might make sense because his range is awful. No depth to replace him though.
LF- Span I can live with. For me he has the best plater approach of anyone on. this lousy team.
CF- Gordon is too clowney for me and can't hit. It is fun when winning but sad to watch when loosing. Must bat .300.
RF- Haniger is the foundation.

SP's- Flush them all down the drain.
RP's- Diaz and Colome are keepers flush the rest along with the starters.
Bench- Never had one so hard to comment.

New Options- Look for the worst options and that is what we will be getting.

With the garbage farm system, the M's need a payroll closer to $200M. They won't do that, so they should be rebuilding. They won't do that either, so we're stuck in mediocrity.

Tweaking, trading, DFA'ing, outrighting, players OR changing management is not going to resolve the issues this organization faces IMO. What would make a difference is if current ownership sold the franchise to one or more investors who actually want a winning team and are committed to putting up the money into the organization to make it happen. To me, it's a no-brainer. A strong, winning team in Seattle will make a profit for them. The longer it takes to get serious ownership, the harder it's going to be to "win" back the eroding fan base. The bobblehead stuff, the goofy give away schemes and the losing teams the current ownership keeps dumping on us will eventually ruin baseball for Seattle.

SP...I would keep Paxton, Marco and LeBlanc as our 3-5 guys. Dipoto needs to go get a 1 and 2 in the off season. Felix can head to the pen cause that's all he has left in the tank.

Essentially everything Jerry said shows he isn't fit to be a GM. The offense didn't just stop in the 2nd half. The starters did. Diaz doesn't have as many saves because the offense was great. All the bs of control the zone was a myth but we all were blinded by their success.

And the only tough decision he has is Cruz, the staff is all back, the offense outside Cruz is all back. What the hell is he talking about unless he can find a taker for Seager and Zunino or decides to deal Segura or Haniger. Jerry is a con man worse just like Jack Z, has a philosophy but goes against it with his trades. None of his offensive trades besides Haniger control the zone.

SP...I would keep Paxton,

Paxton is a bonus SP for a good team which M's are not. With DIP's unwillingness to sign real SP's, his only other option to build a complete rotation would be to trade him for 2 to 3 up and comers and hopefully hitting on them. If I could believe DIP could sign two legit SP's to be the #1 and #2 starters, then Paxton would be a must keep for our #3. You just can't count on the guy for consistency or health and he will be 30.

Won't happen but it would be such a Mariners thing to do and a Jerry thing to do is sign Harper this offseason. Jerry really is the perfect guy for this organization. You need to do X, you know it, everyone and their mother know it so you do Y instead.

Then it's on Dipoto to go to the owners and say we need to get the debit card out and get top starting pitching.

What gets me is how the Mariners farm system is continually rated as one of the worst in MLB, if not the worst, and it's been that way for years. What the hell is the FO and the scouting team doing?

Perhaps a bit less heralded, but every bit as good of a backstop is Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal. Not only is Grandal an excellent hitter, slashing .239/.345/.468 in 2018, he is also the premier pitch framer in the game.

Behind the dish, Grandal leads MLB with 13.3 RAA (runs allowed average) by pitch framing metrics. By comparison, Mike Zunino ranks 5th best with a 3.5 RAA (min. 5,000 pitch sample) in 2018.

Grandal will enter the 2019 season as a 30-year-old player, who is likely to challenge Ramos as the prize of the catching market.

sign grandal and trade zunino

quot
''Now, Healy isn’t necessarily guaranteed a spot even if Gordon is dealt elsewhere. But a Healy replacement isn’t very clear. The upcoming free agent class for first basemen is very, very thin. After Joe Mauer, Matt Adams, and Lucas Duda, there are no other potential upgrades that would justify Healy’s departure.

To be frank, Mauer and Duda may not even be upgrades at this point in their careers. They’re decent stop-gaps at best, which may be what the Mariners ultimately need with Evan White on the horizon. Adams might be the best option in the end, however.

In spite of all this talk about trading Healy, the 26-year-old slugger has improved his plate approach over the last month. While a 7.1 BB% is mediocre at best, it’s a monumental step for Healy. If he can learn to properly extend his at-bats on a consistent basis, the Mariners will have a dangerous threat at the bottom of their lineup at an extremely affordable rate.

Still, that’s how Healy’s projection laid out for the 2018 season. So, in short, we’ll see.

Once an advocate for his trade, I now personally don’t think it would be in the Mariners’ best interests to trade Healy unless he either becomes expendable or is a key piece in a deal that brings back a better package''
end quot

healy and cano are the best options.....so no need to shop there

two heredias will not do(no resighn on maybin) ...heredia can be a/THE defensive option and can be sent down(to tacoma) for years to come.. they need another HR hitter R/R..or move haniger to CF and get another RF

gordan is still a good player and not a needed trade

eavaldi is the pitcher they need

this guy is the utility player they need

just make gordan the utility player and add a R/R cf or RF..that is a HR hitter

then all that would be needed would be a starting pitcher

and a manager
