I only became a member here this month, and can find no explanation of how one
actually places a bet on vBookie. Would someone who has done so please explain
the procedure to me?

Thank you in advance.

I probably won't use even virtual bookies very often, but would like to know how they work
on general principals as much as anything else.

The virtual ones with no actual money involved could be the kind of intellectual challenge I like.
Things that are too easy bore me eventually.

I'll try to help out..But as you can tell from my vCash I am not very good.

Rule 1: vCash in no way is real currency. It's a fun virtual currency special to SportsHoopla.com. Everyone starts off with 500 vCash.

You go to the Bookie board near the bottom of the main page, click it, find a game you want to bet vCash on, click that thread and you will see a box atop that threads page showing you what you want to bet one (with vCash)

Depending on game there might be options for betting on the spread, moneyline, over/under a pt total.

Hope this was helpful, any more questions, ask.

A hint to help you get your vCash up.

DONT bet against my Red Sox when Jon Lester is pitching. He isn't having the best year of his career now, but
could well win multiple Cy Young awards before he retires.

When Dempster or Lackey is starting it's another matter. Neither of them is Cy Young caliber.

Having one of my frequent bouts of insomnia in case you're about the timing of this post.

If you run out of vCash will they let you start over with a fresh $500 or is that it?

I'm inclined toward the idea that they should let you start over after waiting say, a week.

Agree or disagree?

I'm following my own advice and have placed my 1st ever virtual bet on
Mr. Lester in this afternoon's Red Sox-Orioles game.

I doubt it will bother Lester at all that it's a road game.

Once your vcash is gone, you'll get 25 to "start fresh" the next time a bookie adds new games to bet on. You get 25 everytime your balance goes to zero and you didn't win any of the bets you emptied the bank on.

Thank you.

I'm off to a good start, up $40 on today's results.

Probably won't bet games not involving Boston teams very often.
Will quite likely make exceptions for games involving Oklahoma or
Minnesota teams, because I grew up in Oklahoma City and my
favorite relative as a child grew up in Winona, Minnesota.

In any case my bets are going to be smallish in the large majority
of cases.

Don't know if I'll ever accrue a large amount of vcash because my homerism will not allow me to bet against my teams. Those losses are offset by betting on matchups I don't really care about but whose outcomes are relatively "safe".

Baseball games, hockey games, basketball games.. their outcomes are haphazard. Football games are really the ones where you build up your vcash, as their outcomes are more likely to be assured.

I can figure out who is pitching which game for us without your making a post of that fact every day.

Other posters may not keep track of that as well as we do. So what harm is there in providing
the info?

I won't bet AGAINST the Red Sox whatever the pitching match-up, but will
pass on betting at all if I don't like a particular game's pairing.

Won't bet against the Celtics if their up against my native city's Thunder, or early in the season
this year. If and when Rondo gets back to health I'll be going with them when I think they deserve to be favored,
but until then...
