Jason Day and Rickie Fowler are playing very well right now. Both having major comebacks. Both are former champs. It would be fun to see them both as factors this week.

Unfortunately, this tournament can no longer say it has the strongest field in golf and can no longer call itself "the fifth Major". ; not you are missing so many of the world's best players

What would really be fun would be if the top three finishers from last year were allowed to play this year. Smith, Lahiri and Casey are all banned after finishing 1,2,3 last year.

Yeah...last year was the crazy weather. The bulk of missed cuts came from one side of the draw. Those 3 were on the good side. I remember Xander, Scheff and Brooks having to tee off on 17 (as their first hole) in an absolute windstorm after play was suspended the day before. All three hit it into the water and none of them were really even close.

As far as the 3 guys you mentioned...obviously Cam would be nice, but he had other priorities and made his decision. Lahiri and Casey? Haven't thought about them once until reading your post.

The PGA has done its job. It will be a great tournament anyway. Just as long as McIlroy or Thomas don't win.

So glad mcilroy missed the cut. Too busy worrying about LIV and making elites only tournaments to be able to actually play

Scheffler looks to have this wrapped up. I think I'll take a walk.

Not surprising. There is no competition any longer on the PGA. There are about 6 to 8 guys who can compete weekin and week out and when Scheffler or Rahm or McIlroy are on,
the contest is over
Did anyone who saw the day one leader board with Scheffler the only recognizable name up there doubt that he would win?

You are literally only week away from Kitayama beating both Rory and Scheff at the API

This being said...of course Scheff was a hammer bet on Friday to win it.

Agreed, but I said "week in and week out" Kitayama, who I like, can be an outlier once in a while just like the other journeymen pros. I'm talking about a very short list of guys who can compete every time they go out. Kitayama , for example, won last week but missed the cut badly at the Players the very next time out.
