Morning Briefing: Mets hope to end lengthy trip with Rocky Mountain high

LOS ANGELES -- The New York Mets have reached their final stop on a three-city West Coast trip.

After splitting four-game series in San Diego and Los Angeles, the Mets now cap their 11-game road trip with a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Matt Harvey (3-4, 4.50 ERA) opposes right-hander Jon Gray (0-1, 5.40) in Friday’s 8:40 p.m. ET series opener.

“It seems like we’ve been out here two weeks already,” manager Terry Collins said.

Harvey is coming off his best start of the season. His fastball averaged 95 mph and topped out at 97 on Sunday, when he limited the Padres to two runs on four hits and two walks and struck out a season-high 10 batters in six innings.

The Mets (21-13) enter the weekend tied with the Washington Nationals for first place in the National League East. A showdown at Citi Field looms once the Mets return home.

DENVER -- Here are the lineups for Friday's 8:40 p.m. ET series opener between the New York Mets and Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

The Mets have won 11 straight games against the Rockies. That's tied for second-longest streak against one team in Mets history. The franchise record is 15 straight against the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1986 and '87. The Mets also have an active 11-game winning streak against the Cincinnati Reds.

Matt Harvey has a 19-inning scoreless streak against the Rockies, although all three of the games it encompasses were played in Queens. This will be Harvey's first career game at Coors Field. He had a start skipped in Denver last August, when Logan Verrett stepped in and limited the Rockies to one run in eight innings.

Mets lose 5-2

Clueless Collins moves the struggling captain up 1 slot to 2nd in the batting order instead of down 4 spots where he belongs...and what does he do in that 2 hole??.... 0-4 w/the goddamned hat trickkk.

Enough coddling FFS.

:L

Scoring just 2 runs in Denver ain't gonna cut it.
Mutha Effers need to wake the F. up.
