Media will now spend all season trying to push him to become the first non-HC to win Cosch of the Year and label everyone who disagrees as a bigot.
That will totally happen now

Good for him. It seems like a long time ago there was a story about a Gay Chiefs OL during the Pioli years that planned on committing suicide when he was out of the league. He thankfully did not do this.

It's good to see people feel more comfortable being open about this.
Why?

I feel it should be self evident given we have people feel driven to suicide when they are isolated and ostracized.

Normalizing queer folks is broadly good. Football included. Queer acceptance is good for the well-being of Queer folks.

I guess as long as he is a winning coach and doesn't hang around the shower room looking for a dingus peek, no harm.
The world you guys inhabit is so bizarre

I think it is cool he felt secure enough to come out, but this is the kind of thing I do not give a shit about. I care about this as much as I care about Zion banging **** stars.

That being said, this kind of announcement is not about me. If athletes that have been afraid to come out and are feeling isolated see this and feel more at peace there is value there.

Because until very recently being publicly gay made you unemployable, and certainly in 'manly' areas like the NFL

Sam was never good enough for the NFL & Nassib didnt lose his job with the Raiders for being gay. That was a Cap thing. He signed 3 yr 25 mil contract played 2 of those years. Final season played 13 games & zero as a starter. Of course he was moving on.
2022 BTW he played for the Bucs. So not like he got ousted for being gay.
Not only did he play for the Bucs last year, he was defensive captain.
