I know Ford hates when I post these, but I can't help myself!!!

"Look at Jerry Jones, another self-made billionaire who bought America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys, installed himself as general manager and is stuck with a fool running his team into eternal mediocrity.
"Because that fool owns the team and thinks his genius for business deals extends to this silly football thing. And it doesn't. One is not the other. Business may well be harder than sports, but being great at business has no bearing on a person's ability to maneuver a sports franchise."

I really dont blame Jerry. If I bought an NFL team for $200 million and it was now worth 10 times that I'd have a horrific ego too. You guys should be happy because if I bought the Cowboys you'd have to hear, "At WR the Cowboys are starting ncmalko. He is the only starting 45 year old WR who runs a 6.9 forty yard dash." :yahoo:

 and you'd make sure we would tank it on purpose in all games against the Eagles

You dang right. :agree:

But we all say this. He has been so tremendously good at making money in his life I'm sure he thinks that evaluating talent is much easier. TO be truthful Im shocked more of these mega rich billionaires dont meddle more often. I know JJ is frustrating but he does care. Yes he cares about making money off his brand and I totally agree. Making money is in his blood. Im sure the quick SB wins made him feel like making a SB team isnt that difficult. As frustrating as he is its great to have a passionate owner with DEEP pockets. It could be a lot lot lot worse.

He does care, but he cares about being seen as a Football guy more. Too much pride to give up now and risk being proven inept if they turn it around without him. It's his tragic flaw.

With any luck you'd have milesitis and you'd never be healthy enough to play.

Well they do give you reasons on a pretty consistent basis.

I'd be the first to praise Jerry if his philosophy on talent and running a team were producing winning seasons.

You know it took until the 3rd time I read that before I realized what you meant. I almost googled it, but I figured it was just some disease I didn't know!!!

Anyone can get lucky for a year or two, but the blind squirrel theory can't sustain itself for long.

The thing is that Jerry's way actually could work except that, as has been evidenced since it went into play ....

it won't work in a salary cap structure.

That has been Jerry's biggest failure. Putting together a winner in a salary-cap era of football.

That and being able to hoodwink another GM like he and Jimmy did the Vikings with the Herschel Walker trade.

Jerry gets too close to his players. This does 2 things that ensure his "system" won't work. He ends up overpaying for the talent he has, which you addressed with the cap issues. And he cuts the legs out from under the head coach. If a player doesn't like something, they go to Jerry and he overrides the coach.

I like how the Dallas media said this about Jones without really saying it directly to him.
