If you had one who would it be- for the league as of now?
Manning
seems like a sure thing to me
and then he'll lose in the playoffs

Manning in an absolute landslide. If the last 4 games go anything at all like the first 12 it won't even be close.
I understand where your coming from ..but your doing what everybody does with Peyton. And that is gloss over some bad or pedestrian performances. He let Brady come back for a 24 point lead ..and ended up with a 52% comp. You have to lay that one at his feet.
I think you can find those "pedestrian performances" on almost any player. Your guy, Calvin Johnson had 25 yards against Cleveland.

He spots his defense a 24 point lead, puts up 31 points total and it's "at his feet"? No one wins every game. As Manster pointed out CJ had some real clunkers. That game you brought up was a horrible weather game if you remember that everyone expected poor passing numbers in. Denver committed to the run that night and it back fired. Brady needed to pass a lot because of the flow of the game and ended up with great #'s. But remember, Manning threw the TD that put the game into OT and they lost on a fluke special teams turnover. If your point was that he wasn't the league MVP that week, you are right, but it's a 16 week season. If that game was his low water mark for the year, you are actually making his case. Still scores 31 points @ NE (who is 6-0 at home) and throws 2 TDs (to 1 Int) in a game that his RB rushes for over 200 yards in? That's his horrible performance?
The closest comparison I can give you is Drew Brees @ NE. His comp % was 47%, had the same 2 TD - 1 INT ratio and also lost on the last play of the game. Big Ben was the only QB to put up good numbers @ NE this year and that was because NE scored 55 points against his team. He also lost.
He may have been committed to the run, but he still threw it 36 times (pretty standard) for only 150 yards.
Plus Brady was having no trouble with the weather.
It is fair to hammer the guy over 1 game ..probably not. But considering he was matched up against another elite ..you could see giving that 1 game a little more weight.
A little more weight? maybe. But to point it out as a reason he shouldn't get the MVP and thus act as if it's the only game he played and ignore the rest of what may go down as one of the greatest NFL regular seasons ever? No...your move...
I'm not in the "should not" camp. I just don't think we are in "landslide" territory.
I still see a horse race.
