Good to see Cano back in there. I've noticed that, since the trade deadline, the starting lineup has become more stable than it was before. Prior to the deadline, with the exception of Cano and Seager, you didn't really know what the starting lineup was going to look like because you didn't really know who was going to play on a given day or in what order they were going to hit. With Jackson solidifying the leadoff spot, Ackley hopefully having finally turned a corner in the 2nd spot, Cano 3rd, Morales providing a veteran presence in addition to a quality hitter in the cleanup spot, Seager 5th doing what he does, Morrison coming on lately to take hold of 1st base and the 6th spot and Zunino entrenched as the starting catcher, we now have an idea of what more than 2/3rds of our lineup is going to look like everyday. When Saunders comes back, hopefully right field won't require as much platooning. That really just leaves shortstop and the #9 spot in question. Taylor has done well so far, but isn't playing every day and Miller is at least at the Mendoza line at the plate now. Really, it's no wonder the M's are averaging 5 runs a game since August 1st, they finally have stability in the lineup.

Why would any team ever start a pitcher with less than a 5 ERA against us?

Ironic that the last time we messed with the rotation so our top pitchers played the better team in the week we lost 3 of 4 to the worst team. Now getting beat by a baaaaaad Ranger team. I am a big believer that it sets a bad mentality for the team. Prove me wrong M's...if you can.

Zunino's AB's are getting excruciating!

Should start splitting more time with Sucre. I thought the purpose of making the Buck-Sucre swap was to get amore reliable guy to spell Zunino. Sucre aint great but he is putting up more professional abs then Zunino right now

Frustrating game. Maybe the offense was flat or jet lagged from that Boston series.

Need to get Elias out of there. Cant have a guy learning how to pitch in a playoff race. Just plug Erasamo in there going forward. He will at least give you a better shot to get through 6 innings

I think its more about giving Felix, Kuma and Young the extra day of rest, two extra days for Felix. Only two off days left so I understand taking advantage when you can. If we cant hit bad starters then it really doesnt matter who is starting anyway

I thought they got extra rest by leaving before the 5th inning these last few starts?

I personally don't by that excuse from Lloyd. If it is the case, then why not go to a 6 man rotation and give them all an extra day rest each week? It has happened twice with both times happening in the same way with skipping the bad teams to pitch against the good teams. Coincidence?

This is why I argued so hard for them to sign another free agent pitcher this off season. We are counting on retread vets and rookies to fill the last 3 spots. I mentioned Phil Hughes as a perfect fit. He has pitched in the pen and as a starter in his career and he didn't break the bank. I got a lot of 'no way' comments, but he is having a pretty good year now that he is out of NY.

I kinda think they will have a sixth guy (Erasmo) spot starting in September. I get where you are coming from I just think in this case its more about giving them an extra day of rest. Felix hasn't gone 6 innings in either of his last two starts and his yearly wall may be coming but hopefully not. Hopefully this extra rest gets him back on track. I really wish they would addressed the rotation better last winter as well, but the unexpected production from Chris Young kinda offsets that a bit.

Was listening to the radio this morning on my way in, and the guy said we should go put a claim on Bartolo Colon. Thoughts?

Bartolo in Safeco, absolutely! Considering that we are throwing Erasmo out there still, Bartolo would make us better. I say do it.

Alright let's keep going Eagle Eye Ackley

Eagle Eye Ackley? Really?

I appreciate what he has done over the last 6 weeks but for a large majority of his Mariner career he has been Blind Eye Ackley

I have no issue with going after Colon. He's cleared waivers, so any team can try to work out a deal with the Mets for him. I'm not sure I'd focus too heavily on his Safeco Field stats, though. The thing to keep in mind with that, as with any pitcher that has done well in Safeco Field, is that he's been pitching against the Mariners who haven't exactly had their late-90's offense out there for a good chunk of his career.

Yea that was extremely smart base running play by Endy. A successful relay could have nailed both runners which would have been disastrous.
