First game so far (seven innings):

This was done a couple of innings ago. We get two runs, but it's not enough to help Felix.

First they crap the bed against Texas, now this.

Guys, DO YOU WANT THAT WILD CARD OR NOT?!!

Remember when we could have drafted Rendon over Hultzen.

It doesn't faze me anymore. Felix is a stud and then burns out. Can't explain why because other Aces can stay strong. Conditioning (meaning strength training issues)? I guess it doesn't matter now.

Bumped the thread I created early. He's the 2nd best pitcher in baseball behind Kershaw until he gets into August and September, he seems to fall apart in these months. Hopefully one of our more optimistic fans will convince me it's just a coincidence and I'm looking too much into it.

Unfortunately though, this has become a trend with him. One that is too pressing to ignore, especially of Felix is going to be the head of a rotation that wants to make it into the playoffs. You can't have your ace burned out before the playoffs begin.

Hopefully he shuts me up by throwing an 8 or 9 inning gem next time he starts.

After last night I'm trying to be optimistic, but it's become increasingly hard to be so. Over the last two starts Felix has looked average at best.

Your kidding yourself if you are not a little bit worried. 3 years in a row with a drop off around the same time is not a coincidence anymore. Of course it could be a random slump. I thought he fixed his conditioning issues in the offseason. Makes me wonder if maybe there is some unknown injury thats nagging him more then he will admit to. Whether it be from that comebacker he got hit with or something else

He has fallen apart at the end of 2013 and 2012 as well.

Before August 1, 2013: 22 GS 2.34 ERA
After August 1, 2013: 9 GS 5.15 ERA

Before August 1, 2012: 22 GS 2.79 ERA
After August 1, 2012: 11 GS 3.62 ERA (6.62 ERA in his final 6 starts of 2012)

Here are the stats from his previous 3 starts:
8/29: 7 IP 10 H 5 ER 4 HR 1 BB 1 SO
8/22: 5.2 IP 5 H 3 ER 1 HR 2 BB 7 SO
8/16: 5 IP 7 H 2 ER 1 HR 0 BB 3 SO
Total: 17.2 IP 22 H 10 ER 6 HR 3 BB 11 SO (5.23 ERA 1.45 WHIP)

It has become a pattern for him.

With how he has done his past 3 starts and the sudden push back of his Wednesday start to Friday, I have to wonder if there is something wrong be it conditioning or some minor injury.

As Nolan Ryan always says, it is all about the legs. He looks fit as far as weight goes, but I don't see him having that strong leg base like some guys do. Pedro or Randy didn't either I guess, but it just seems odd every year he breaks down. I hope they have the answer for him even f it means skipping a couple starts. Doesn't matter if we make the one game playoff if he isn't himself.

M's MVP Ackley! Ya, not as catchy as Eagle Eye Ackley but just as true.

That was easily the best month of Ackley's career offensively. Hope he keeps it going through September and, if we make it, the playoffs.

Just shows that it's really not so hard to hit home runs there if you actually have offensive talent. 8 of the 9 Nationals starters in this series are slugging over .400.

Been saying that for years. Of course your home run totals are low in Safeco when half the games played are by a team that uses guys like Chavez, Vidro, Bloomie, and the like at DH for years. Seager seems to have no problem nor did Sexson those 2 good years. :agree:
