Not trying to make this political, at all, but I had a message board experience about a 10, 15 years ago that makes me try to avoid the term "Mendoza Line".

A guy with a handle with like "Gomez" or "Garcia" that I'd chatted with over the years in forum discussions, when that term came up in the normal baseball discussions said it's a pretty fuckin' racist term, 'cause plenty of guys hit under .200, even in those days, and Mendoza's career average was over .200 (Mario Mendoza Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com) and the reason Mendoza was called out and the term stuck was because he was Mexican and the predominantly white baseball fan crowd were cool with poking fun at him, in particular.

The guy that brought it up, in my probably 5 prior years of experience with him, wasn't some wilting violet, bleeding heart, and seemed to be a good dude, so I took his message to heart.

Just an anecdote, and something I think about every time I hear the term.

I'm old enough to have been a fan at the time that happened. I was a big Julio Cruz fan. I didn't think Bochte was a racist and it was the guys on ESPN that made it a nationwide thing. Yes, Mendoza ended up something around .215 career and had I believe one more season under .200 than he had over it.

But, this is a different era. Doesn't matter how something was intended then if it can be seen that way now.

Scott Servais reiterated that George Kirby remains in line to make his next start in Minnesota. Team has declined to disclose specifics of MRI results on Kirby's right knee, and Servais said it's just something Kirby will have to manage with treatment.

It was a ball high. Julio can't lay off the low and away off the plate pitches. Just shows why this specific pitcher is bad. It's really not hard to get Julio to wave at those.

Start off the game with a double and a walk with no outs... K swinging and K looking and then stuck with Ty having to not fuck up at the plate. That doesn't end well and he lets him off the hook to strike out 3 in a row.

This fucking team can't complete a string of AB's
