Urban Cowboy - when cable TV first came to my neighborhood- this was the feature movie on 3 of the 4 movie channels. I think the first month you got all the movie channels free. It is a 10 for me.

I am of the unpopular opinion that American Beauty and Forrest Gump sucked major bawls.

American Beauty was just a pretentious pile of shit, and Forrest Gump may be the most overrated movie of all-time...IMO.

Again, I realize these are unpopular opinions.

FG isn't bad. But it's definitely very overrated

I just don't watch movies over and over again every time they're 'on.'

So I guess no 10's for me by that metric.

And I can think of tons of movies that are fun re-watchable movies, that shouldn't be within a country mile of 10 status. Big Trouble in Little China. FUUUUUUN movie. Not a 10 movie.

Some movies aren't (imo) watchable all the time because they're too dark and gloomy, but would be at or close to 10's on my personal ratings.

'Children of Men' is an amazing movie. If I watched that every month, I'd probably kill myself.

Here are some of mine.
Some criteria later.
If you don't think so, give them your own ranking on a scale of 1-10.
Then list some 10's yourself and then we'll rank those.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
The Great Escape
Shawshank Redemption
Escape from Alcatraz

I'll watch everyone of these any time they are on.

These...

Lawrence of Arabia
Bridge on the River Kwai
Dr Zhivago (I like David Lean )
Dr Strangelove
Full Metal Jacket
Spartacus
Paths of Glory
2001 (Stanley Kubrick too)
Vertigo
Rear Window
North by Northwest
Psycho (Alfred)
Blade Runner
Alien
The Martian (Ridley Scott ain't bad either)
Aliens
The Thing

Oooh...adding Oh Brother Where Art Thou. Very few movies I will sit down and watch if I come across it. I don't care if it's 20 minutes into the movie...I'll watch.

Full Metal Jacket above is also a good one.

American Beauty was a decent comedy film. I actually found it pretty funny. Problem is I don't think it was at all meant to be funny. Maybe a few parts, but mostly I think it was unintentional. As an "artistic film"? Yeah, big pile of shit.

Forrest Gump is fine by me. Not great, but it was entertaining.

I watched One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest about 6 months ago. Thought it was pretty good, but it kept pissing me off. I hated that Doctor/nurse.

The Dark Knight is another
