As far as the kids movies go, I'm partial to Ratatouille and Up.

Ratatouille was good.

I also really like the Bee Movie with Seinfeld, pretty clever actually.

I like to cook, and I'm a fan of the chef Thomas Keller who was the culinary advisor for that movie, so I love Ratatouille. It also allows me to get my kids interested in cooking/food.

I'll have to check out Bee Movie - haven't seen it.

I have always hared E.T. with a passion.

I almost cheered when they found him near death by the river.

I can see someone maybe having an indifferent opinion of the Dark Knight but anyone who says they hate it is just trying to start shit.

but almost everyone I know hates how No Country ends.

Took me about a day and a half to decide whether I loved it or hated it. Decided to love it. The reason you can't change the ending, is because if you do, it renders the whole movie before it irrelevant.

There is no justice, no larger meaning to the universe, just chance.

Flip a coin.

We WANT Anton to get his just desserts, but if he does, then there's justice in the universe. The ending is very bleak, but I give the Coen's full credit for staying true to McCarthy's novel.

I thought the movie and book was more of a commentary on the hubris of American exceptionalism and the villain's inability to be defeated or contained by such a ridiculous notion of self worth.

God may wreck his car but its still up to man to actually report him to the authorities. Instead we are easily bribed into submission even if we know its wrong.

My take is that it's much more simple. It's commentary on the hubris of humanity to think that the universe gives a flying fuck about our fate(s).

The only meaning, is what we assign to it.

Sure it did. It wasn't enough material for 1 movie, let alone three. Cash grab.

<edit>

Let me revise that a tad. The movie was excellent at all kinds of things, visuals, lighting, sound... but the story was SOOOOOO drug out, it was horrible compared to what it SHOULD have been.

Your interpretation is probably more correct as that is basically what The Road is about or certainly it's last lines IIRC. Admittedly I haven't read No Country cover to cover. Its just been sitting on my shelf because I've seen it 5 times.

The Coen bros made the setting come alive, though, and specifically mentions that America has always been that way and that this country is hard on people.

I didn't like Star Wars Episode 7. It didn't have the same feel to it that even the prequels had. They should just remake the prequels but make them not suck. Get Anakin/Darth Vader right and show us why he is the greatest, most powerful Jedi/Sith/movie villain of all-time!

Well, for the purposes of this thread I think it's more about movies everyone loved/hyped up, that did nothing for you. The biggest ones for me would be

Pulp Fiction
Raging Bull
Wall-E fell asleep a couple of times trying to watch this

As for the Coen's I find I like more than I hate. The only one I really hated was the remake of the Ladykillers. As for the True Grit remake, if you've seen the original there's really no need for you to see it.

Will Ferrell movies. I just don't get why people find him and his movies funny. I loved his tiny role in Wedding Crashers. "MOM! Meatloat!"

Anchorman?

Everyone I know loves Meet the Parents. My wife and I hated it. After 30 minutes, we walked out of the theater and got our money back. Gave it a second chance on DVD and lost interest after 45 minutes. It just wasn't funny.

For me, Inglorious Basterds tops the list. A few others are Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, 28 Days Later and The Royal Tannenbaums to round out a top 5 list at the moment.

Royal Tannenbaums has to he one of the most boring movies of all time, terrible
