Also, Slay looked ok out there. He wasn't picked on much, was tight on most of his coverage, and best of all imo, he looked like a capable and willing tackler.

Pretty much how I feel. I think this game should give him the confidence MENTALLY to know he belongs yet still has some improvements/adjustments to make. The PI in the end-zone was pure stupidity, holding onto to the jersey while the official is right there staring at him. He made a couple shoestring tackles, a shoulder-whip tackle behind the 1st down marker. He's only had 4 starts prior to tonight's game. I think he's showed some significant progress when compared to last year.

Lawson looks tight in the hips in his back-pedal transitioning to turn and run. I saw that 3-4x tonight. Kinda scary...

It's 1 game and there's lots to build on from this.

The O-line looked like shit til the 4th qtr. No push whatsoever up the gut. the rb's seemed a little more patient when popping outside. O-Line coach Washburn needs to fix these guys. GVSU Laker stated months ago to be prepared for some regression by them this year.. Once again it's only game 1

The D-line looked awesome but not a whole lot of constant pressure throughout the game. Fairley was gassed in the 4th qtr AGAIN. Suh was on fire tonight. Quddus got that stop up the middle not SUH. Suh was falling sideways and flung his right arm over the rb...
