The PGA Tour has acted liked arrogant pricks because they were the only game in town. They were forced were forced to make these changes.
In general, players on the Tour will be treated better by the PGA because of LIV golf.

Let's look at the changes Jay Monahan proposes.
More money to 8 tournaments sounds good but is it. The 8 are Genesis Inv, Arnold Palmer Inv, Memorial, Dell Match Play, Sentry Tounament of Champions, The Players and the first 2 Fed ex Cup playoff tournaments.
The Fed Ex cup now will be limited to the top 70 instead of the top 125 players. So with the exception of the Players his changes money wise goes to invitational or closed field tournaments. Those not making the Fed Ex playoffs will scramble during the fall to keep their cards and top 125 ranking for the next year. Seems as if the rank and file of the PGA is taking it on the chin from Monahan. Remember he already cut the Playoffs from 4 events to 3. Is it good for those who watch golf a shorter season this maybe good for the top players but fall events with no star drawing power isn't that great for the spectators that come to those tournaments. Also remember that before Monahan became Comm. he was V.P. and Chief Marketing Officer overseeing Business devolpment and corporate marketing. He knows how to bring in the cash but doesn't know crap about the members he is supposed to be leading. In the long run he may drive more of the rank and file from the PGA towards LIV golf than helping promote the game through the PGA.

How does this make it harder for golfers to break through?
7 more tounaments just became a so called closed event and the lesser amount of tournaments to play when you just received your card the harder it becomes to climb the ladder to make the elite status. Another possible fall out to this is sponsors with less big names some of the smaller events may just lose sponsors because of no names. If any of those events shut down then that leaves less opportunities for players to reach elite status. Remember that without the Rank and File golfers the PGA would have a hard time to exist. How many golfers would not be playing in some of these tournaments with no invite as that option would be gone.

You should probably actually read up on the plan.

Fields at designated events will be comprised of the top 50 players who qualify for the BMW Championship during the previous season’s FedEx Cup playoffs, plus the top 10 players not otherwise eligible on the current FedEx Cup points race. There will also be five places earned through performance in non-designated events.

For example, the goal is to have a cadence to the calendar that would see two designated events followed by three non-designated tournaments, then another two designated. The top five point-earners from the three non-designated stops would earn their way into the next designated events. Any player who wins on Tour would automatically be eligible for every designated event that season.

Other qualification criteria will include consideration of the Official World Golf Ranking, most likely with a focus on the top 30. That is intended to accommodate a top player who may be returning from injury and otherwise ineligible for designated events. Sponsor exemptions will also remain in use, though with more defined parameters on who is eligible to receive one. Such exemptions are a controversial feature of designated events, but that free pass also represents the most obvious way to ensure Tiger Woods can play any event he wishes to.

Tour executives ran multiple data simulations of how a season would play out to ensure sufficient churn in the system. Proposals from top players at their meeting in Delaware last summer called for smaller fields and no cuts, but their criteria would have seen 80 percent of players remain in the elevated events from season to season. The structure ratified by the board projects that only 60 percent of those eligible for designated events would remain so for the following season.

OWGR would be the only way for top Euro golfers to qualify for PGA tour. Sponsor exemptions should be up to the sponsors and no parameters set up by the PGA and screw Tiger Woods he is just a golfer doesn't deserve any special privileges.

He is panicking because of LIV. Every decision he makes is based on hurting LIV even if it hurts the PGA Tour. He and that clown McIlroy deserve each other.

Monahan only needs the elite guys so he makes it better for them because he's afraid they might go to LIV. He does not need the rank and file PGA Tour pros because they have nowhere else to go, LIV certainly doesn't want them and we saw how boring the Honda was. But watching these "elites" gag their way home at the Bay Hill tournament was pretty lame as well. The PGA is between a rock and a hard place. They don't have any players that people want to watch.

1. LMFAO! How would you characterize Danny Lee, Brendan Steele, Sebastian Munoz and Mito Perreira???

2. Bay Hill was far from boring. A great test of golf on an awesome course with a ton of tremendous players having a chance at the end is never boring for a true golf fan.

Nobody this stupid about golf would post this much about it if they weren't a troll.

If you are ridiculous enough to think that the LIV players are not among the world's best then you should not be on the golf forum.

Where are they in the world golf rankings?
Tiger Woods is ranked #1,000in the world now and every single LIV player is ranked higher than him but I still consider him among the golfing elite

Adam Svensson, Taylor Montgomery, Mackenzie Hughes, J.T. Poston, Adrian Meronk ,Lucas Herbert, Min Woo Lee, Keith Mitchell, Aaron Wise, Corey Conners, Tom Hoge, Sepp Straka, Sahith Theegala, Brian Harman, Kurt Kitayama, Sungjae Im and Tom Kim. What do they have in common, according to the OWGR they are all better golfers than Dustin Johnson. Combined 20 wins no majors to 24 wins and 2 majors. Just goes to show you the fallacy of the OWGR system not everything can be determined by ratings.
