What in the fuck are the Rockies doing?

Top 10 pick 8 of the last 9 years, 27th ranked farm system.

Injuries/poor development? It feels like a lot of the pitchers they've drafted have made little progress in the minors.

They've always been lousy at developing pitchers-only one I can think of is Ubaldo Jiminez. I know the conditions there play a role, but so many high picks and really nothing to show for it.

Agreed. You can't really blame Coors Field when they aren't even reaching the majors. I do think the Rockies have done a somewhat better job trying to assemble a pitching staff for Coors in recent years (they did finish 9th in the NL in ERA in 2017 and 12th in 2018, which is a lot more impressive than it sounds IMO).

Marquez and Gray have been pretty good, but man just look at all the pitchers they've drafted in the first round that never amounted to anything. Robert Tyler retired after failing to make it past Lancaster, Riley Pint's been injured and can't throw strikes, Mike Nikorak missed 2017 and threw 21 innings in 2018-19 while walking more batters. At least Ryan Rolison's held his own in the minors (4.87 ERA in Lancaster, but it is a hitters park). They completely whiffed on their first rounders in 2005-09. Maybe they should just use their first rounders on position players?
