ESPN's Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel have confirmed that the 2020 MLB Draft will only be five rounds.
For reference, the 2019 MLB Draft ran 40 rounds, not including compensatory picks. Passan notes that there was talk between Major League Baseball and the MLBPA of doing 10 rounds this year amid the coronavirus pandemic, but "the sides didn’t come to an agreement." As previously reported, all amateur players who go undrafted will be eligible to sign for a maximum of $20,000. Teams can sign an unlimited number of undrafted players. The five-round 2020 MLB Draft will take place on June 10 and 11.
