Sorry J, like your team but the buzz saw 1,2 punch is too tough.

Team J loses my vote because he took 3 RP which means he only has 4 bench players when he should have 5.

Too much power in lineup for team D to be shut down.

In a game 3 Sonny Gray IMO falters to Zambrano. That is if it goes to 3 games.

Team J has a lot of new stars that I have yet to see perform on big stage with pressure. JMHO

Kolten Wang? C'mon man!

Wainwright is really good but he isn't getting through Pujols and Cabrera multiple times. They are too quick with their wrists and their eyes are too good and they'll be able to hit HRs off his jam pitches like Cabrera did in the All Star game.

McCutch as a DH seems like a waste of a gold glove calibur fielder. Gomez is good but maybe that could've been constructed better.

I've never seen a team play without a first baseman. Two DHs seems like it'd make it tougher to stop Albert and Miggy, but I don't think there's any stopping Albert and Miggy. But I do like JS lineup a lot.

For having Pujols and Cabrera, I could see one of these other teams beating Team D.

Very athletic pitchers cover the right side and 1st base very well. Andrew McCLUCTHen on the bench was a wow factor.

D 8054-4975-2966-113-675-.986-9-66-31-.320-2

Team J -
This team is powersentric on the offense, maybe too much so. Personally, I would have had Dee Gordon leading off and not Gomez. I know Gomez has a higher OBP than Gordon, but Gordon's speed is completely lost at the #8 position, and his 72 stolen base pace this season would be a huge boon for those RBI guys. Being short a player will hurt a lot, especially since they decided to go extra in the pen (which against this matchup may not be a bad thing). McCutcheon as DH is really hard to swallow, but I understand why. The rotaion is solid, but after Wainwright there isn't anything there that I can get excited about. Nearly every player on the team has had their best season last year or is currently having it (and believe me, running the numbers to see what their pace is takes forever when all but like 5 of them had to be run), and that show a lack of balance and in my opinion hurts them (especially since it seemed at times that they were drafting straight from the All Star game roster).

Team D -

The invincible Pujols/Cabrera team doesn't seem so invincible. Yeah, the middle order is killer, but they are barely average (compared to the other teams in the draft) outside them. Again, the lineup is way too dependent on power numbers (10 of the 14 players have had at least 20 HRs in a season). The bench, though a couple of good players, may be the weakest remaining. The rotation is very solid, but as far as the draft goes, it's without a clear cut get a win guy. The bullpen has a *meh* pitcher (Shields), but Neshak and Street are extremely great pitchers on the back end.

My Pick -

These teams are much closer than I first thought, and most people seem to think it's D hands down, but the numbers would show that if Wainwright can get through Pujols and Cabrera with minnimal damage that Santana won't outpitch him. Unfortunately for J, I don't think that Bumgarner and Gray get the favorable matchup, which gives the slightly better offense the edge here, 2 games to 1.

Not sure i'd call Shields a 'meh" pitcher. His prime year he had an era of 2.75 pitched 91.2 innings in 78 games allowed only 66 hits had 98 strike outs and a 1.124 with an ERA+ of 154. He had a couple other real solid seasons as well...

No offense but this seems like a really weak reason.

They're is zero need for 5 bench players with a DH

I think Ritz was making fun of Nos when he said it during the draft, its not like you picked all closers or something, no rule against picking RP for bench spots.
