BUT Kyle Seager is KILLIN it this year. Feel like Kyle is getting zero mention yet almost same batting average as Trout, less home runs, but about 50 less strikeouts to boot. Am I insane for saying that we have our own Trout on the team?

Lovin me some Seager. Guess the good thing about him not getting any publicity is it'll drive his contract price down.

I dunno man.

Trout vs. Seager:

BA: .284 vs. .280
HR: 31 vs. 23
RBI (put little weight on this, all depends who gets on base before you bat): 100 vs. 88
2B: 36 vs. 27
Fielding: .994 vs. 979 (pretty close end of day)
BB: 71 vs. 47
SB/CS: 14/2 vs. 6/5
SO: 159 vs. 101!!!!!

Parts in bold are where the major differences are. Trout is obviously the better runner and his OBP is going to be higher because he has a heavier bat, but the fact a third baseman is pretty close in a lot of categories...... The fact Kyle is stacking up is incredible...

Trout is 23, Seager is 26.

I like Seager a lot but Trout is a far better player. He's going to wreck this league in due time when he reach his prime. Kyle may be at his prime right now

Trout will be a guy that will win multiple mvp's by the time his career is over.

We may have our own trout in Seager, but he is no trout

Better comparison for me is Seager to Cano. But by the numbers I do understand your original comparison. I said in the off season sign Seager long term now.

I love Kyle Seager, but no.

The numbers are close in a couple areas in Seager's best year so far and Trout's worst ,as far as BA anyway. Trout should hit better than .284 going forward.

Still, this is 1 player and 1 player doesn't make a team so it means little. What matters is getting into the playoffs and playing good baseball at that point. If we end up playing the Angels and Kyle Seager outplays Mike Trout for those 7 games, who cares who had the better season if your team advances?

Seager is having a hell of a year.

That being said, Trout is probably the best all around player in the league right now, and he's still a couple years away from his, so-called prime years.

There's a 102 point difference in OPS that you're forgetting.

I think if you combined the play and statistics of Kyle Seager and Michael Saunders you could make a pretty good case that we have our own version of Mike Trout.

No point comparing one of the best 3rd basemen in baseball with a guy who has a good case for best player in MLB. Seager's great at what he does and we should just leave it at that.

Seager is a great player, one of the better third basemen in baseball right now, but there is no comparison between him and Trout.

What Trout lacks are baseball instincts... and I can't back that up... Join the Mariners Trout...
