After this season i cant see how Sturgis keeps his job. He has missed many FG and then almost hurt us more by kicking the ball out of bounds against the Jets.. ther is no way the coaches have confidence in him if the game is on the line.

I made a comment on him on the previous thread. He definitely has had his ups and downs but he also made his other kicks later in the game. We'll see how it goes...

It comes down to execution - he has to execute - But, it also comes down to the offense getting it done - score TDs so you dont have to settle for FGs and have games constantly come down to the wire. We need to start fast next week, and finish faster.

Miami Dolphins' run defense remains a major issue - ESPN

I know you guys have been telling about all the stats of the Pass D and all that, and I know the run D is the bigger problem - We need to fix the run D so teams don’t just run all over us as the Jets were for a majority of the game - and we need to fix the pass D, especially in third down situations of which has been a real problem for far too long - tackling must be fixed as well. This defense is not elite right now

I think part of the problem are the injuries in the secondary. The D has to compensate for this which opens up the run game. Hopefully Fin and Taylor are back then the LB'S and S can be more aggressive.

The O can also take the pressure off by taking a lead. Teams just can't run when behind....

Haloti Ngata suspended 4 games for Adderall - will not play vs Fins, obviously.

Just read that huge loss for the Ravens. Now the oline can focus on the outside rush which should allow Tanny more time to carve up that secondary...

Wow that is huge news! This could be the very thing that keeps Baltimore out of the playoffs. Gives you guys a huge upper hand in the upcoming match up. Hoping your team takes advantage of it!

Thanks bro I agree very nice bonus plus looks like Fin will be playing which will help the secondary. Either way it's going to be a good game!

That is good news that Finnegan may play. Hopefully his ankle doesn't become a lingering issue. Finnegan has had games that he's played nearly shutdown football. RJ Stanford seemed to play well in his absence. He covered Decker who had only 2 catches for 18 yrds. The Jets decided to not throw the ball much so it's not easy to determine how well Stanford actually played. RE Sturgis: The Jets' kicker missed two kicks in the same game. Sturgis hit 3 of 4 including the short game winner, however the kick he missed was barely over 40 yrds. Maybe the wind was more of a factor than it seemed to be. I saw the FG flag blowing toward the kicker at one point in the game. At Sun Life Stadium the wind is not as much of a factor usually. In places like Gillette Stadium Belichich coaches very differently depending which end of the stadium the offense has the ball due to the wind. The Fins will be wise to factor that in next week RE their kicks. The really good kickers in the league usually kick it right down the middle most of the time so they have more margin for error with the wind. Hopefully Sturgis will make some clutch kicks this month & solidify his future with the Fins. Out of curiosity I looked ahead at some kicker possibilities should the Fins decide they need to upgrade. There is a kicker from Maryland named Brad Craddock. He's a junior. He is having a great year. He's hit over 94% of his kicks including a 57 yard FG. He's only had 19 FG attempts but that is still very good.

In the game with the Ravens I think the Fins are going to be able to move the ball with the run and pass and be able to score points. If they score what they average (over 25 points a game) they should win. On defense I think the Fins will do a better job of stopping the run. They have played well vs the run for most of their games this year. One of the key stats that can be easily overlooked in the game vs the Jets is 1. That's how many touchdowns that the Jets scored. For all of the imperfections vs the run, the Fins did well in the red zone by stopping TD's from being scored. The Fins are 13th in the league in that category.

Fins rumored to be in the “trade market” for SF HC Harbaugh. Would be a nice get. But, no reason to get rid of Philbin at this point - whether we make the playoffs or not - the team, at least on the offensive side, has improved big time - And can only get better. We need stability at some point at HC and in the front office.

The ONLY way and reason Philbin should be let go is if for some reason there is a major collapse the rest of the season - but even .500 should save him for another year. I am not as concerned with him being outsted, at least for Harbaugh this year as I was last season - As Hickey wasn’t around last season and didnt start that circus like Ireland did with Harbaugh.

Of course, Stephen Ross has a hand in all this - But, I still dont think Hickey is in as big a rush to get rid of Philbin or Tannehill as QB as Ireland may have been.

So Fin is out which stinks but hopefully next man up can hang in there. I'm hoping that the safeties play one hell of a game in both run and pass support that's key.

As per coaching I don't want to even worry about this right now they need to take care of business today and the rest of the season it won't even matter. Go Fins!

Great start to the game the good Fins have shown up. Would be nice to take a 17 point lead here! Put major pressure on the ravens.

BS call on the oline what's the line supposed to do run back to their own endzone when a play goes to sideline?

Oline has been shaky so far for the Fins. And I must still be critical of the defense - you shouldnt leave a whole like that wide open for Flacco to run through when we have them against the wall. Thankfully, we have the ball to start the next half but we are giving them life by letting them move the ball after him them pinned way back
