Morning Briefing: Someone wake up the bats!

NEW YORK -- Logan Verrett will need to be the stopper for the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon.

Verrett, filling in for Jacob deGrom, gets the 1:10 p.m. ET series finale against the Miami Marlins at Citi Field as the Mets (2-5) attempt to avoid getting swept. He opposes left-hander Adam Conley.

Conley will become the first left-handed starting pitcher the Mets have faced this season. That means Juan Lagares should be in the outfield at the expense of Michael Conforto, and Wilmer Flores should get a start in the infield.

A lineup shakeup might be in order anyway. The Mets have mustered only six runs and 20 hits during their current four-game losing streak.

NEW YORK -- Here are the lineups for Wednesday's 1:10 p.m. ET series finale between the New York Mets and Miami Marlins at Citi Field.

The Marlins are bidding for their first three-game series sweep in Queens since Sept. 8-10, 2009. The Mets (2-5) aim to snap a four-game losing streak.

Logan Verrett gets the spot start for Jacob deGrom, who had been scratched with lat tightness even before leaving the team to be with his wife, Stacey, and newborn son, Jaxon Anthony.

The Mets are facing a left-handed starting pitcher for the first time this season. That means Juan Lagares and Wilmer Flores in the lineup, with Michael Conforto to the bench. Flores will be making his first major league appearance at first base. He played in 20 minor-league games at the position.

Ughhh...mets leave 'em loaded in the 4th.

Scoreless tie after 4.

Call it what you want...lethargic, stagnant, pathetic, bad luck.....I'm not too worried.. yet!
It is after all, only mid april, with the entire season in front of us.
I am however, starting to get a little concerned with the lack of offensive production so far.
Don't want to dig too big of a hole so early for themselves that it makes them press too hard..but something drastic needs to happen to wake these guys up from their doldrums.
It's really getting kind of hard to watch.

Of course the 1st 3 fish he faces have reached base (single & 2 walks)

Can someone please tap TC on the shoulder and tell him he isn't helping....

I mean how fucking stupid & insane is he????
Verrett had at least 1 more inning in him.
If anything why not go with Montero instead.

Damn!!

YES....... Blevins really earned his pay there as well... after falling behind 3-0 he gets Dee Gordon to pop out on a nasty 3-2 pitch....Wow!!!

Hopefully that inspires the Amazin's to put a run or 2 on the board.

Still no score.

Stretch time.
